i want to box and lift. not serious boxing just fitness boxing for cardio and for fun. should i box on the same day i lift? if so before lifting or after? can i still train 3x a week on bodybuilding? whole body workouts still the best way to go?
I love kickboxing for cardio also. A 45 min session burns a shit load of cals.
Generally most will tell you to do cardio on nonlifting days when maintaining or trying to put on some weight. However, if you are trying to cut fat you mostly likely will have to do some cardio 5-7 days a week, which means there is no way around not doing some cardio on lifting days in that case. If that is the case I do it after lifting. Hope that helps.

train regurlarly, just give a time frame between the two (lifting & cardio). If time isn't permitted, always do cardio after...fatiguing your muscles is important...if your lungs are not up to it then your muscles won't be either. Lift hard, then do some cardio...The optimal solution is to cardio in the morning to kickstart the metabolism, then lift heavy in the evening when you body has had time to fuel up on calories///
A three days per week plan with boxing on off days would be fine; it'd be a nice form of active recovery. The one place I wouldn't put lengthy sessions is before your workout, although, say, 5 minutes would be fine as a general warmup.
I wouldn't box on the same day of lifting if you're doing serious boxing work though. Beating the hell out of a heavy bag for 2 mins on, 1 min off intervals is mostly an anaerobic workout. After 4 rounds, I'm spent.
