Box squat and bailing

I dont have a squat rack and take barbell from this thing where you do dips. As my squats are getting heavy so the possiblity i wont get up next one i do, so what should i do to save myself ? Any vids to show how to bail ?

Thanks =)

unless you have support bars to drop the bar on if you get stuck you're just going to have to figure out a way to drop the bar. I doubt anyone has "squat bailing technique" videos.

I've dumped it from the bottom position a few times, but there isn't a technique. I just keep my back arched, and let the bar roll down my back. Try stepping forward/away from it if you can. Hurts like hell if your back is rounded though.

this is probably the best idea. but i wouldn't let it roll down my back. could end up getting hurt. if you have to bail (no matter what position you are in) lean backwards, release your grip on the bar. as you feel it start to fall, get out of the way. if you are seated, try to sit up and move forward as fast as possible. if you are on your way down, off the box, or whatever, just move forward as fast as you can and get out of the way of the bar.

Instinct tends to do wonders - let it go and get the hell out of there as fast as possible using any means possible.

I once saw a friend overpull what he thought was going to be a heavy clean somewhere around 400-420. He caught it rock bottom as it crashed down a bit, he thought he was stabalized but then his eyes went wide as he realized it was going back (and taking him with it, likely pinning him by his neck/throat to the ground). I never saw a 330lbs guy move that fast in my life, from eyes wide with the realization of horror to spining, jumping, all 4 limbs flailing and scraping for purchase on the floor as he tried to get the hell out of there. Quite memorable.

don't think a bar will pin him by the throat as the plates do elevate the bar a bit :)
Yeah, didn't look like he wanted to chance any encounter with that thing. His mission was to get the hell out.

Never got any video but it's become totally etched in my mind and I can see it clearly to this day from the big wide eyes suddenly realizing the situation to the mad scramble that looked like someone trying to swim in the air.
