Boring meeting syndrome

Nothing worse than a boring conference call. I have been known to nod off at times.

Have you ever nodded off during a really boring meeting?

lol no...when i'm on a dull cnference call I find other ways to stimulate myself...I have a lot of hidden object games on my lap top that come in real handy, especially with the calls to china and all the traditional nonsense that has to be waded through before we can get to the meat of the matter.

I especially hate meetings regarding issues that mostly arent related to me, but they want me on the call *just in case* I'm needed. thanks for making me sit through an hour of nonsense

speakerphone works pretty well .. and i can jump on the comp in the meantime

I fell asleep with my face in my hands and started snoring once when my RVP came into town. It was his first visit after I was made the branch manager. I uh... got an earfull over it.

nodded off, no, but damn near. i have to be on phone-in conference calls one a week. sometimes they just drag on and on. the best way to liven one up is to un-mute the phone, go into the bathroom and take a dump while on the call. they can hear it all, from the innaugural fart, to the final flush. :toilet:

Well I know most work meetings are boring, but you could just hire me to do all of your confirance call meetings Smurphette... you will then call me up and go "BBF... how was that 1 hour meeting? What is the summary?" and I will reply "Smurphette is was borning as fuck. Mr. Ziggler talked about trends on a flow chart from the last 6 months for about 20 minutes. Everyone agreed, including you, that we wanted all the new nametags in cornflower blue... oh and they wanted your budget report deadline moved up to Wednesday, and I told them there were some delays getting the data on two departments, but we would put 100% effort into making that deadline but could not commit to it just yet... otherwise you did not miss shit. I wanted to slit my wrists about 45 minutes into it. Oh your hair looks nice today btw."

See how easy that would work out?

just out of nowhere you need to just yell "PENIS" during one of those.... the reaction is well worth the ass chewing...

as i've probably mentioned, i'm in meetings constantly. conference calls and in person. for many of them, i'm there only for show- to show that the director of marketing is involved and is considering whatever the other party is, very important. Usually, I have no idea what's going on, since they are already established clients that just want to talk about sales. Other times, I'm in my office with the door closed, the phone on speaker, and I have a good amount of dental floss or tweezers in my hand while I stand in front of my mirror. Today, I spent an hour playing catch with my coworker while we were both on the same call from different phones (I was in my office, he was in a cubicle outside my office and we were talking to some chinese buyers with another salesman. we threw a koosh ball back and forth the whole time).

we have meetings all day, then get yelled at during the next morning's meeting for not getting anything done.

tomorrow, the CEO, CFO, and sales manager (my equal, but SO fucking annoying) are all going to be out. the man who is sort of considered my boss (the president) lives in another state and never calls me. I have so much to do, but...
This means- a. no meetings. b. long lunch. c. i'm going to be late. :)

I'm in sales and this is precisely what I think of when people tell me they are too busy to talk to me. I know what it means to be "busy" in the corporate sense, it means:

"I spend 50% of my time listening in meetings and the other 50% trying to catch up for the time someone else wasted because they thought their issue was really important."

Haven't ever slept during conference... today I almost dozed off while in a call with a customer, I hate headsets so use handheld, for like a second I dozed off and dropped the phone, glad I had the mute button on! :)

No i have not..

I ask... do i really need to be here??what will be accomplished?? can someone else be there instead of me?? who else will be there?? do i really need to be there??

Usually the answer is no, all i really need is the big picture, i don't need the details..
