body temperature problems

when dieting, i find myself getting cold very easily. this isn't a huge concern because obviously my metabolism is compensating for the fewer calories

my problem is when i work out, i continue to stay cool and by the end of my workout, get even colder. these workouts are 50-70 minutes of cardio, and maybe some weights afterward. at about 50 minutes is when i start getting cold, and if i go on to 70, i'm freezing to the touch

can anyone give me advice about this? more lipids or carbs, shorter cardios, etc.? thanks

Don't know what in the world is wrong w/ you bro. Only thing i can think of is circulation problems. Haven't you seen runners out in cold weather w/ no shirts on? Your temp should really be going up.

As far as cardio, why are you doing it for so long? You may find yourself w/ better results doing 15 min. of HIIT. And it will raise your metabolism for a much longer period of time.

If you want to incorporate cardio and weights, by doing weights first you will come near depleting your carb stores. This would make your cardio more effective. But doing it the other way around and you may be using more of your muscle tissue for fuel.

I know the feeling. When I cut, I tend to get colder a lot easier. Maybe just don't have the fat on my body keeping me warm??

did you ask your doctor about this problem? ive never heard of someone getting cold like you described from working out or exercising.

Try to eat more carbs for a week
and see wether it helps you not being so cold

Agree

I have just started to go on my diet plan and I am not skinny but due tend to get cold very easy. I found before the diet I was a lot warmer...not sure why. This is 2nd week.

I also have to admit I am working on understanding diets better so this may be caused by my body adjusting to lower cabs....

Would like to know more as well

I'm not a doctor, but here's my personal experience. I think the feeling of unnatural coldness means your metabolism is not functioning optimally. This is very common with restrictive diets - if there's not enough in the furnace to burn, your metabolism slows down and you feel cold. This will also happen if you go too long between feedings.

I felt cold all the time when I was an 85 pound anorexic. Now some people would say I was cold because I was so thin. BUT nowdays I carry less bodyfat than when I was anorexic. However, I carry more muscle, which is metabolically active. I also eat every 2-3 hours, so my furnace is always stoked and burning. I'm never cold anymore.

I also find I start getting that cold feeling if I'm not drinking enough water. Eating the small meals every few hours really helps. It also helps if you move around some when that cold feeling starts.

I have had this problem...I think.
The overall cold (goosebumps and chills) comes after I have been doing cardio and start to cool down. During my 15 min snail pace I'm shivering :cold:
My guess is it's caused by my morning espresso. A little caffine goes a long way. :)

Are you taking an ECA/NYC? this might do it.

Get your thyroid checked by your doc, and/or make sure you're getting iodine in you while you're dieting.

Are you cutting salt out? Eating fish? A supplement might help. Some folks use topical iodine to test & supplement. Get the first aid stuff from the drug store - about 50 cents and paint a patch about 3"x3" on your stomach. If it disappears in less than 24 hours - see your doc and get it tested. (It can be washed and sweated off, so do it when neither will happen.) You can also supplement iodine by using this method. You'll just absorb and use whatever you need. Paint on once a day. Weird, but true.

Used the same method myself when low-carb dieting and had the same problem - always cold. Did the transdermal test and it sucked it down in about 10 hours. Added iodine extract and not having temp problems anymore. Even breaking a sweat while working out easier.

yeah... if you're not heating up while doing cardio, then something's wrong. i agree with risky... try some more intense training for shorter periods of time.
