body for life

BFL is a great way to ease someone into a training & diet program if they have never done it before. The concepts are basic & work and lots of people have gotten good results. But note that it takes time -- generally seems to take 3 weeks for a change in diet to show its results -- so dont' get discouraged if 30 lbs dont' come off immediately. The secret is that its a lifestyle, not something you do for a quick fix. Do a search on body for life and you will find lots of info.

The first thing is to make sure SHE wants to do it. She can't do it for anyone else if she doesn't want to. Also you might want to get her on this board so she can learn more about the whole thing.

But in general BFL is a great way to start - congrats to Bill Phillips for producing something that works, despite the push for EAS products.... :)

I think the BFL diet and exercise concepts are good.

The only thing bothersome is the "transformation" pictures they show. While certainly inspirational, most people should not think themselves a failure if they themselves don't make a similar transformation in just 12 weeks. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that those aren't average results. Some of the people pictured have entered more than one 12-week BFL Challenge, and they're showing the very first and very last picture.

Yes those transformations do look a little unreal. I think in some of the before pics, the people had some muscle to begin with (under the fat).
Alot of people say they dont see results until week 8. Especially women and especially women who have yo- yo dieted (like me).
But it's a very good way to start out because the plan is so simple. No calorie counting.

Go to www.leanandstrong.com. About everyone there is on the body for life program. Check out their transformation gallery. Also, www.bodychangers.com shows some good transformations.

Good luck to your gf!

I like the program because it doesn't have you working for hours on end, feeling like you are going to drop dead. It's sane and DOABLE. Plus I improve in being able to do heavier weights sooner this way as opposed to the old "3 sets of the same weight every workout" that I was taught.

i agree as well...it is a great place to start...tell her to stay focused

I could be wrong but I think that lady was on more than Myoplex to make a transformation like that. Or atleast plastic surgery to romove the access skin. But that was motivating none the less.

Bronzed,
You've seen this lady before? Reason I ask is because she is frequently on another message board. I guess to motivate the newbies. But I dont find it motivating- only frustrating because I dont think I could make a transformation as good as that.
Especially if she isnt natural. That's like trying to obtain something that is unrealistic.

Leanandstrong swears Pam is natural with their lives. They ban anyone who asks otherwise. I know in the end before that contest photo and her competition she did have a "trainer" that told her what to do and eat, so that final portion isn't BFL.

I wouldnt dare ask that question over at leanandstrong. They all worship pam over there. But really, what could a trainer tell someone to make that big of a transformation?
I just find it hard to believe.

He didn't tell her stuff, persay. Lots of people hire trainers pre-competition. They handle everything you eat, drink, how your exercise, how you taper off your water and what gear/supplements you take.

All I'm saying is that isn't accurate, if people are thinking she did that all with BFL. She did the pre-comp stuff with strict dieting, calorie counting and "whatever" else. She did however make an amazing transformation through BFL.

I am currently doing the BFL program for the 3rd time because I get such good results. But it is mentioned that the program is a good "jump off point." What is the next step to get to that next level? To be labeled a bodybuilder.......

I consider myself a BB now, but I think that this program can only do so much.........

I like BFL for beginners. It adheres to the K.I.S.S. rule. I've got my mother on it right now.

Those before and after photos are possible in 18 months, but not the norm! As for the extra skin, I have been seen back stage on more than one occasion with the duct tape out to tape the spare skin under a well cut posing suit. It's not really THAT uncommon. But you'd have to be totally obsessed and have a top-notch trainer to make that kind of transformation...not just the BFL book! Other than that, only her and her trainer knows for sure.
