Bobby Petrino, biggest snake ever?

calveless wonder

New member
I'd say so....

he's right on the chickenshit ladder with Nick Saban.

Bunch of soft, spineless college coaches trying to make the jump to the pros and when they realize they're not very good at what they do on that level, they bail without an OUNCE of intregrity and leave the franchise/players in ruin.

Billy Donovan did the same shit to the orlando magic, although he wasn't so heavily invested.

fuck those guys, i hope their former players knock them out if they see them in the street.

you don't quit on a team with 3 games left in the season, especially one that you tried to completely change "the culture" in.

p.s. (waiting for pick3 to come in this thread and say "no, its in my pants")

He shouldn't have jumped ship like that. But look at the BS he had to deal with. All those fucking prima donna egos

whatever man, it's the fuckin NFL. These guys are grown men with families getting paid big money, not 18-19 year old kids. You have to treat them with respect, but be THEIR boss at the same time. a 18-20 year old kid really has very little power, but not a guy with a 50 million contract and is a big reason why fans even come to the stadium. You can't come in waiving the big stick and talking down to dudes who have been in the league for 15 years when you haven't done SHIT in the NFL.

That's the first thing people should realize when they make the transition from college to NFL.

BS He had to deal with? Yeah, the whole michael vick thing. Ok...what other member didn't have to deal with that in that organization. Man up, make adjustments. You're getting paid millions. The players tried, he didn't.
There's not alot of superstars in that falcons locker room, especially now. So i don't know how you're going to say that they're "prima donnas"

LOL wow...good info. didn't know that

I think just looking at his resume would give a little insight into how this guy views loyalty.

funny with a name like Petrino, italian i'd assume, you'd think loyalty would be of value. Italians/Italian americans are some of the most loyal people you will find

Who's the cocksucker who got fined 100,000 for messing with the coach?
So fucking what if they're grown men, they should act like it, and not need to get pampered.

not anymore.. their used to be when sports were 'good'

it's all about the money now. . .

you know what really blows my mind, steve-o?? the fact that the nba still has an audience. . .the best and the brightest among their stars has had their assess handed to them on the international scene too many times to count now. . .by teams that might have one former nba player on it. . .yet muh-fugger's are still paying heeuugggee money for court-side seats to lakers games. . .explain that shit to me. . .imho, the nba is just the wwe with a friggin' basketball. . .shit. . .if you're going for pure entertainment value, streetball is a hell of a lot more entertaining. . .at least they don't try to make like they're legit. . .

The athleticism is unparalleled in basketball in the US. There's no question that we produce high flying physical thoroughbreds. We by far have the best athletes when it comes to the sport. It's not even close
HOWEVER, europeans, argentina etc have closed the gap considerably. Their biggest asset being that they are very fundamentally developed unlike the US.

You know why the US has gotten their asses kicked aside from this past year's team? Really simple. Has very little to do with talent

1.) our best players haven't gone in years. We've had a make shift roster
2.) The composition of our team hasn't been very good. We've been taking pieces that don't neccessarily fit
3.) The other countries olympic/international teams have been together for years and have played with each other to develop chemistry. The NBA players get shuffled together with a random cast and are expected to be cohesive after a few weeks of practice, with a coach most have never played under? You could mask that when you have Jordan, bird, magic, barkley, etc but not when you have a a few superstars by modern day standards mixed with a bunch of "pretty good" all stars.

The NBA has become alot more international, but you'll be damn sure the lebrons, kobes, etc will continue to originate from the US with your occasional steve nash/dirk/yao

bah. . .we've sent a pretty damn good team (by nba standards) to face teams that, in most cases, haven't even seen an nba game, let alone had an opportunity to play in one and we've lost. . .you can slice it up anyway you want but, at the end of the day, all the "high flying" bullshit looks good on highlight films but it doesn't win games. . .the nba is a farce. . .

did you just skip over the entire part about me discussing team chemistry and the USA team's inopportunity to build it, or do you just pretend not to acknowledge it?

like i said, these euro/argentine teams have played together for years. It's a big thing for them. We just draw up a roster with talent, stick them together for a couple of weeks and give them a coach 90% of them have never played for.

It's like assembling a hyped version of the knicks roster and putting them on the floor :(

chemistry > talent alone anyday

Umm, except the players that spend most of the year in the NBA, like Ginobli, who's team won it a couple years ago. There are PLENTY of international players in the NBA.

I never mentioned anything about there not being plenty of international players.
But on each international team...maybe what, 1 or 2 max in the nba? Maybe a couple more with the Argentine team having so many nba players now (Oberto, ginobilli, etc). Still doesn't negate the fact most of these guys have played with each other forever on the same team. They don't have major overhauls of their roster like the US team does. Besides, how long really has this international wave of players gotten big? 4 years ago when we realized the rest of the world was pretty good too?

The leagues international players play in are very small, with less games. And they are ALL very commited to playing for their international teams. With as long as the NBA season is, most players basically have to play all year if they join the olympic/int. team which is why as of late, the talent hasn't been as great(no Kobe, KG etc until recently).

Man, it's tricky arguing with you, cause you ignore my point, then go off on a rant. I said there are a lot of international players who spend the majority of the year over here, which means they aren't spending that much time with the national team.
That being said, the last time we did ok, I think Coach K was a good choice. I saw alot of the FIBA games this summer, and the team looks pretty good. I don't think you there's any way you can claim that they don't have enough superstars. Good enough to beat puerto rico, but we'll see.

no. . .i didn't skip over it. . .i just don't believe it's that important. . .and if it is, then i suppose i'd still win the argument since free-agency has significantly watered down the whole "chemistry" thing anyway. . .imho, the issue has nothing to do with chemistry perse. . .instead, i believe that 98% of the players in the nba have abandoned the fundamentals for the highlight reel. . .and it's gone on for so long now that when they are faced with a team of fundamentally solid players, they have no idea how to play them. . .we worship the slam dunk (much like the beloved wwe suplex, which is a comic book derivative of the actual freestyle wrestling move pronounced soo-play). . .they worship the x's in the "W" column. . .
