Bloomberg in 2008?

He has been the mayor of NYC for five years. He has done a truly extraordinary job on many counts.

He is a billionairre....so he probably isn't doing it for the money. Modern politics pays very well but not ... usually... that well.

He was a democrat who changed parties so he could run. So he clearly does not really care about the old donkey vs elephant routine.

With his money, he could run free of special interest money. I, for one, believe that special interest money often ruins our political leadership. Especially when candidates are forced to spend all of their time raising funds.

With a name like Bloomberg, he is almost assuredly Jewish. So he would get a lot of great press for free.

He is also into health.....yea.

I'm all for it. We are evolving into a war between the Reps and Dems. A war largely fueled by the whack job that was duly elected....but thats another story.

I think we need another party. The most normal people can not get excited by either existing party.

You can read about Bloomberg in this months Rolling Stone.

He's a pro gun control, pro-illegals, supports same-sex marriage, i dont see that happening anytime soon. Powell would make more sense.

Unpopular stances if true.

Plenty of time to moderate them. He seems to like politics.

I like his plain speech and common sense.

But there would be too much work to turn him into a "certified" republican. On the gun control aspect there's always a way to do a 180 and pretend you didnt really mean that back in the days. With illegals well that means vote so who knows. Same-sex marriage is a different ballgame. Are republicans ready to accept that ?

The Rep party would not get behind him for several reasons...unless they were desperate. He isn't really a Republican at all. He switched just so he could run.

More of a third party threat.

Funny how the Bushes make third parties so popular.
