My low dht and high SHBG are causing some serious issues. I went to see an endo and he stated DHTand SHBG were unimportant and had nothing to do with libido. I've read DHT controls libido and erection strength. I'm not going to another Doctor. I guess I'm left to self-medicating. Please review my labs and tell me what you think. Btw, I've tried Dhea, it raises my E2 through the roof. I've tried Nettle root for shgb and it lowered DHT to almost zero(0). Also, I'm not on any trt.

Hi Sekyi

How old are you?

There are a couple of things that concern me slightly by looking at these results:

1. Your Free Testosterone level is "low" in my opinion and your doctor should have picked up on this if you have difficulties with libido and ED.
2. Your E2 level is quite elevated and this could be binding to your testosterone making it ineffective. Your Total Testosterone (TT) levels are good but I look at TT as being like a reservoir of water and your Free T is what you use in the home (your body). Basically, there's plenty of water in your reservoir, but unfortunately your tap is blocked, reducing the useable flow to a trickle.

There's a couple of things you can do:
1. Insist your doctor retest and take your Free T count seriously.
2. Reduce E2 levels via anti-Estrogen medication and hope that this frees up your bioavailable testosterone (Aromasin, Arimidex, Forma Stanzol).

Bottom line is this. Your level of 8.2 in presence of low testosterone symptoms, makes you a candidate for HRT. However, to save you from the life-long commitment to therapy you may want to try reducing your E2 levels first. This might result in increasing FT. If this is so, then your symptoms will reside over a period of weeks to a couple of months. Anyway, you definitely need to see another doctor if your symptoms persist.

Hope this helps.

Craig
