Blood work

Hey guys not sure where to post this but looking for some info on blood work.
My friends father is 55yrs old no health issues and doesn't cycle at all but for general health what should he ask doc to check for?? He has found himself more lethargic last five yrs so i was thinking of basics
Thyroid
Free test
Bound test
Cholesterol
Psa levels

What else can he ask doc to check for?? Maybe he could use hrt? I will post his results up when he gets the numbers back and see what everyone thinks !
Any advice apreciated!

Hi zaozoe

If he wants to check his hormones for testes or pituitary deficiency or malfunction:

FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)
TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
LH (Leutinising Hormone)
E2 (Oestriadol) also E1, and E3.
Free Testosterone
Total Testosterone
Prolactin

Others for general health might possibly include:
LFT (Liver Function Test)
PSA
Haematocrit

There's a million and one tests that can be performed depending on what symptoms or concerns the patient and doctor have, and you've mentioned some of them yourself. However, for basic blood, liver, and male hormones, these are among the main ones a doctor may choose to evaluate for male hormone deficiency, prostate, liver, and platelets etc. Others include, SHBG, vitamins, minerals, and other major organ tests. It's basically, a "how long's a piece of string" type question.

Hope the additions help.

Thank you so much fir the info i will keep that for my personal use as well ! I will post some numbers next wk when he gets results back!
Cheers!

I see EF folks are not only figuring things out for their friends, now they do it for their friends dads???

If either one of them cared they would actually make an effort to figure it out. Tell them to use google.

Well the friends father is not computer literate or knows much about bloodwork, so they did some research and then turned to me for some guidance as well, and of course for that EF is better than google.
