Blood Test Help

auto_ice

New member
I am wanting to have a blood test done so I can see if I can start another cycle soon. What should I tell the doc the reason for the test though? I dont want to admit I have used steroids before. I finished my last cycle in January and just wanted to check to see if I am healthy. If someone could help me out or send me to where I can read up on it I would appreciate it.

When was your last check up?

Depending on your age it's not unusual to have a lipids (cholesterol) and liver function check done 1 or 2 times a year. Just tell him you want to be on top of your health, maybe you have a history in your family, maybe you drink,etc...

Basicly what it breaks down to is preventative medicine, besides unless you are in the military you really don't have to worry about what the Dr. thinks. Even if you are it's notan eye brow raising question. You are paying the bills for the testing, even if you are with an HMO. Remember you are the customer, and the PT.

You should have an annual physical health assessment done anyway, which should include labs.

yes, always remember you're in charge of your health, and you are paying the doc - not the other way around.

One thing to consider, you might want to feel out the doc on whether he'll speak off the record and not record what you tell him re aas use. anything that ends up on your chart can come back to haunt you in any number of ways. the most likely being denial of health insurance or a rate increase depending on the laws of your state. and even more likely, denial or risk premium for life insurance.

Also, I might be wrong on this, but I think I remember a case where doctors records were reachable via subpeona in a criminal case - (it was a piercing of some priviledged communication - doctor-patient? priest-penitent? ) - something to think about --any lawyers out there?

The health insurance would be based upon a questionaire only, at least in my state. Medical records are not used for ratings, at least not for groups, individuals, I'm not so sure.

The life insurace part, you bet your sweet behind they would not issue a contract for those circumstances, or they would make it so outrageously priced you couldn't even afford it.

Good post.

Honestly, unless you have a serious problem related to use I would not bring it up. There are certain cases where you have to sign a release of info waiver, which means you've just released access to everything HIPPA protected... ie. entry into military, most state and govt. jobs.

Just my thoughts on it, Mavafanculo thanks you went into a direction I should have brought up as well.

BTW... Anytime, if I have an idea more than happy to pipe up.

the privilege is lost if the patient puts their own health at issue in the case (and the records are relevant). w/o a waiver of some sort by the patient (and there are many ways to waive it) it is hard to get them. They can be viewed if the doc is being investigated and all ID info is redacted.

That at the extreme would be in the case of sucide attempt, or mental illness where the person would be a danger to themselves and others. And even if the Dr. is being investigated the info is still privileged.

But, niether is the case here. But good input, my fellow brother. Toda raba, ve l' hetra-uht.
