Blood Profiles

Once again, this topic must be broached since so many of you fail to see the importance of the subject. Fact: Excessive amounts of AAS (injectible, oral) will cause problems with the basic systems of the body. By excessive, I mean the amount exceeding what your genetic potential can handle. For example, a bodybuilder uses a total of 500mg AAS weekly along with appropriate ancillaries. We run blood tests of his liver, kidneys, red blood cell count/hematocrit, and lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides). His results all come back within the normal range. Now, the same BB increases his intake to 600mg AAS weekly and we retest. Now, his lipid profile is abnormal, his hematocrit is high and his kidney values have increased. It appears that 500mg AAS weekly is his maximal, genetically allowed dose. So, now we ask, what is wrong with going higher?

By now, everyone on the board should know the problems associated with high cholesterol and high triglycerides--they block arteries and they don't care how old you are. what about an elevated hematocrit? This indicates "thick" blood..easily clotting blood. Blood clots can block arteries too and they know no age limits. What about elevated kidney values? Well, we can get by with only one kidney. My point is to limit your intake to the point where you blood test results show normal. This maximal point is different in everyone, because of genetics. Even though you may look like Ronnie Coleman, you are not healthy if your bloods aren't normal. So, unless you are entering a contest to win $millions, I suggest sticking to your maximal levels, use appropriate ancillaries, do proper recovery cycles (if there is something to recover), and stick with proper diet and exercise regimens. Your health is at stake as is the reputation of the sport. I am not saying, "don't use AAS, etc." I am say to use it responsibly and safely.
