Blood Pressure Questions??

Gordz24 said:
My bloodpressure is 155/108. Im supposed to take pills but i had to quit my job to become a full time student. I started a diet and am eating much healthier now so i hope it help. Im 24, 5'8'' 203lbs 29percent fat. Is there any natural things to take that will assist BP?

Taurine in the 6-10g/day range.

In your case 5g in the AM and 5g in the PM should reduce your BP by quite a bit.

155/108 is really high btw.

I would start Taurine right away if i were you. Here's why Taurine works:

For Hypertension

In humans with hypertension, 6 grams of taurine daily resulted in significant reductions in blood pressure, and this was independently verified in two other studies, one of them with only 3 g of taurine. Taurine does not cause a reduction in blood pressure in normotensive humans, indicating that the mechanism of action is specific to the pathology. Both effects in the CNS and modulation of hormone levels are involved [11].

11. Amino Acids. 2002;23(4):381-93. Treatment of hypertension with oral taurine: experimental and clinical studies. Militante JD, Lombardini JB.

Keep us posted on how your Taurine stack goes. I'm curious to see how much your BP will drop. So far I have yet to hear a person who's BP did not decrease through the use of Taurine and a good diet.

For someone with hypertension, since I am not a doctor I would not tell them to alter their sodium or potassium levels, unless of course the person is eating canned, and refined foods all day then I would suggest altering the diet as to lower the salts. I would not suggest altering potassium levels as potassium is a major part of the cardiac systems ability to maintain a normal cardiac rhythm... Consult your doctor as hypertension is a KILLER...
Also I am not sure maybe someone else can add to this... garlic might help with HTN?

Hope I was of assistance DETROITFIRE

I have been on BP meds for about 2 months now and my BP seems to be staying low although tonight I took it and it was 150/59 with a pulse rate of 72. This is much better than how I started wich was 189/98. The best part of it all is meds are very cheap right now at walmart only 4.00. I have been watching what I eat somewhat and the headaches are gone and I feel better when I get up in the mornings also. Thanks for everyones advice and more is always welcome!

glad to see your BP is better, you are 23, that BP is WAY to damn high!

Certain "supplements" can raise your BP to. Best of luck!
