Blood Clotting and Gear

Alright fellas. I did a search and didn't really come up with much, so...
Jesse "The Body" Ventura was just hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs which was also what ended his career way back when. A guy called into a radio station today and said that he had his legs apmutated due to blood clots that were caused by Gear. Also, there is an underlying assumtion that is trying to connect Ventura's problems to his past gear use. My question is - how much, if any, truth is there to this recent thoery that gear causes unexplainable clotting? The only thing that I have uncovered so far is that it only happens if you are predisposed to it. If this theory is true, then is which gear may be more likely to cause clots? I am not saying that I buy into this theory at all, I just wanted to get the opinions of some of the more experinced bros here on the boards. As always, thanks for the insight and happy lifting!

The guy that called into the radio was Bobby Haseltine (spelling), a former boxer who fought the likes of George Foreman among others, back in the day. He said that he went over to England he could be "on" without catching any heat. His use escalated from there and by the time it was all said and done he had to have his legs amputated due to the clotting in both legs. I think that he said that when he first started boxing he weighed between 170 to 200 pounds and in his prime he was right around 3 bills. He claims that the clotting is a direct result of his past gear use and that it could happen to anyone. Just wanted to add a little more info to the story. Just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on this?
