Black pepper is bad?

I read somewhere that black pepper slows down your metabolism, anyone else know anything about this?

hey pdaddy, by no means am i a huge buff professional bodybuilder...but i HAVE read about a few natural herbs that INCREASE metabolism...and black pepper was definitely on the list...these are many substances that can increase your metabolism: Bhibitak, Guggulu, Sage, Pippali, Elecampane, Uva Ursi, Gokshura, Alfalfa, Ajwan, Cinnamon, Damiana, Dandelion, Parsley, Nettle, Shilajit, Black Pepper, Ginger, Turmeric, Triphala, Clove, Cardamom

so according to what i know and some articles i've read black pepper helps your metabolism...but it works best when you combine it with some of the above herbs such as ginger (which is a fan favorite to combine with :) )

hope this helps :verygood:

That's a great list, even though I don't know what half that stuff is. I know cayenne pepper is a great metab. booster as well. Thanks

Yum I love cayene pepper or anything that will make food hot for that matter.I dont think any of this stuff is really good for your stomach though.

Actually hot, spicy foods are good for your stomach.....they have been found to actually not cause ulcers and the capsacin in the peppers has been found to contribute to a healthy acidic level in the stomach.

the opposite is true. Black pepper contains several constituents, including piperine which increase metabolism as well as uptake of nutrients.
