Black coaches in the NFL

if you follow football im sure you've seen the nfl is trying to punish the lions for not interviewing minority candidates before hiring mariucci.

i don't understand this. mooch was the best man out there for the job. why would detroit risk losing him just to interview a couple black coaches they're 100% sure will not be head coach next year.

also, why isn't the NFL making a big deal of the cowboys not interviewing any minorities before picking up parcells?

i heard today shawn salsibury say that it was stupid that the lions would contact dennis green or other black coaches if they had no intention of hiring them.... but then he went on to say that they fell short of minority hiring practices....

so which is it shawn?? should they have interviewed them simple because they had to..... or should they not of contacted them because they already had their man and didnt want to waste their time?
