Birth Control Help

I just started Cyclessa 7 day's ago to regualte my period and I feel miserable.
I feel sort of depressed, sick to my stomach. etc.
Is this common?

Thanks CC

While I'm free of synthetic hormones for the time being (yay!), I've been on three different pills, and each time, it took me at least one cycle to adjust physically and emotionally. Hang in there hon. I had a slightly different reaction to each pill (never felt sick to my stomach personally, but nausea is a common side effect, I believe), but I distinctly recall being very moody and just not myself for the first month on all of them.

If you haven't already, talk to your doc about that particular pill and tell him/her how its affecting you. If you are just starting B/C for the first time, it may take a little time to get your body used to it or you may need to try a different dosage (different pill). Personally I don't recall any particular reaction when I first started the pills I was on (many moons ago...) If you are noticing serious changes I would definitely contact your doc about it. Otherwise wait another 3 weeks & see how you feel. If the 2nd cycle leaves you going thru the same swings, definitely discuss the thought of switching to a different pill.

Thanks for the responses I have not been on the pill since Im 22
soooo that's prolly why im having such a difficult adjustment.
The reason I need to be on it is because I have a period for like
2-3 weeks out of the month.

I would definitely say check with your doc. Just a quick call shouldn't take too long. If the pill is messing you up so much, it might be too strong for you. I have never had a problem with mine and I have been on 3 different pills now. I would suggest, though, to definitely not get on the Depo shot ever. That really messed me up a lot; I am still dealing with the side effects and i have been off for over 2 years...

Give it about 3 months to regulate. I always feel sick for the first month or so and it goes away. After three months is things don't get better call you dr.

I just started on yasmin a few months ago. It made me feel really nauseated for the first couple of days but that's actually fairly normal for me as my body tends to freak out when I put new chemicals into it.

Talk to you dr! There are lots of different pills you could try so if the one you're on isn't agreeing with you, look into other options.

Ugh...I know how you feel. I switched last year to a lower dose pill and was miserable for several months. I had taken Ortho-Novum 777 for about 14 years with no problems. I switched to Loestrin Fe because it has a lower dose of estrogen and is mono-phasic (as opposed to the tri-phasic pill). It took my body a good 4-6 months to convert totally over to a new pill.

I expected *some* transition time, but after 3 months of mood swings, PMS and strange cycles, I went back to the doc and BEGGED to be put back on my old pill. He told me to wait it out, that I should start to feel better soon, my body was just so used to the old hormone levels. He promised me that if, in a month, I didn't feel at least a little better he would switch me back right away. I saw him monthly for the next 3 months until I felt "normal".

I am *SO* glad he made me wait. My body has totally normalized and I really like the lower dose pills. I have no PMS, no bloating, no anything!

After only 7 days your body is trying to adjust. It is going to take time. You can always call your doc and go in to talk to him/her if you are concerned. But my guess is that it is just normal hormonal adjustment.
