Better Whey: EAS vs. Cytosport?

Zesty

New member
I'm about to order some supps, and for sure I'm gonna get some ON in either choc or choc mint.

But I noticed the same site has both these brands on sale for rather cheap, and I was wondering if anyone had tried them and could compare.

I have tried some Cytosport "CytoGainer" in Rocky Road, and it was delicious! So I'm pretty confident the Cytosport whey is gonna be a quality, tasty product.

I'm more wondering about the quality of EAS's whey protein, and if anyone had tried both the EAS and Cytosport to compare.

The EAS is like $24 for 6#, and the Cytosport is about $22 for 5#.

Thanks in advance.

I just received my 5lb container of EAS 100% Whey in Strawberry flavor. BY FAR the best tasting protein I have ever taken. Got it for a song on eBay (About $19.00 shipped), and has a 23g serving. I usually mix mine with 2 cups of 1% milk to add about 18 more grams making it a 40g serving.

I stuck with EAS because I just came off of their Myoplex protein and wanted to try Whey. I have had good results with EAS so I stuck with them...

The two supplements you are looking at are complete opposites as Cytosport's is a protein/weight gainer powder and EAS's is a protein powder. There is a huge difference as you can see from the macro values listed below.

CytoSport Cytogainer
150 grams

Calories 610

Total Fat 3.5 g
Saturated Fat 2 g
Cholesterol 100 mg
Sodium 110 mg
Potassium 395 mg
Total Carbohydrate 84 g
Fibre <1 g
Sugars 5 g
Protein 54 g

EAS 100% Whey Protein
30 grams

Calories 120

Total Fat 2 g
Saturated Fat 1.5 g
Cholesterol 45 mg
Sodium 60 mg
Potassium 180 mg
Total Carbohydrates 4 g
Fibre 0 g
Sugars 3.5 g
Protein 22 g

The protein sources in both of these supplements would be whey concentrates. You have to decide whether you wish to eat real foods and supplement them with a 'high quality' protein supplement or use a weight gainer to try and fill a gap. Your diet and training has to be pretty tight though if you are using a weight gainer as your BFP can get out of control very quickly due to the concentration of sugars in these types of supplements.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry to be unclear, but I am actually talking about the 2 company's whey protein products, NOT the "gainers".... I was merely saying I had "tried" the Cytosport CytoGainer a few times, and I really thought it tasted great. Plus, I hear all the raves about how awesome CytoSport's Muscle Milk tastes, so I figure Cytosport's Whey protein would be more popular, but it doesn't seem nearly as popular as the other 2 previously mentioned products.

Also, feel free to suggest any other brand that you may feel is a better value.
