Better to wait and do more weight?

Let's say for example I have an arms day planned with 4 biceps exercises and 4 triceps exercises. If my bis are getting pretty sore after 2 exercises, is it better to just keep on trucking through the bicep exercises with lower weight or to do say 2 of the tricep exercises and then go back to the rest of the bis, then finishing off the tris?

Sore or tired? I would only do 2 exercises anyways. Heavy barbell curls, 3x5 or 5x5, then another exercise of 2-3x12. Maybe dumbbell curls or incline curls.

The same for triceps, heavy close grip bench press or dips followed by skull crushers or pressdowns.

Youre not wasting one whole day on just biceps and triceps are you? :)

well I only do bb curls 4 sets and db hammer 2 sets and I finish with one set of 15rep on the preacher curl and my biceps is dead :S hehe

For instance lets say I'm doing Biceps. One of my favorite routines to do is 3 supersets of 10 regular dumbbell curls, 10 halfway up and hold hammer curls, and 10 crossover dumbbell curls. Once I get in 2 of those supersets I can't do another one at the same weight unless I go work my tris for a little while then come back to my bis. What I'm wondering is would it be better to lower the weight and do the 3rd superset right away and call it a day for my bis or would it be better to wait and come back to do the last superset once my bis cool down for a while. From what I've been learning recently it seems that it would be better to keep at the bis with a lower weight to keep the pump up and tear up the muscle.

@theoak84: I work out 5 days a week. I do chest Mon, back Tues, legs Wed, shoulders Thurs, and arms Fri.

I would couple some muscle groups so you can increase the frequency, which will help you build strength and size quicker, generally.

Honestly I dont think it gets any better than 5x5, i love that routine so much and i believe it hits the body so effectively, that you dont need to worry about biceps and triceps individually. When youre squatting, rowing and pressing heavy 3x a week, trust me, your arms, along with everything else will grow.

Im not saying what youre doing is wrong or bad, im just saying there are more effective ways of training. Isnt that what its all about, going into the gym and using youre time to the fullest to gain maximum results?

So forget for a second, about your arm routine, because thats such a small factor. If you want more size, focus on a more efficient routine. Itll pay off.

Any suggestions on a new routine? I'm totally open to new things and have no problem changing up my routine if it will be better. I've heard that doing an arms day can actually be detrimental to arm growth because you aren't allowing the arm muscles to ever fully recuperate because they get used each day when doing other muscles. However, I never had a confirmed answer if that was true or not.

I've been doing this one for a while. I have it honed down to maybe 30 minutes in the gym per day doing mostly compound exercises. I've found that when I tried to go back to a 3 day split of chest/tris, back/bis, legs/shoulders I didn't feel like I could work as hard. Then again, I was bouncing back and forth between bi and back exercises on my bi/back day for instance instead of doing all back, then finishing off my bis. Maybe that would work better?

EDIT: What is that 5x5 routine you mentioned?

Look in the training sticky. With that routine, you can still throw in a few sets of curls and ext, even though they really arent necessary.

Like i said, if you concentrate on squatting, rowing and pressing, your arms will get bigger as a side effect.
