Best way to lower triglycerides

What is the best way to lower triglceride profile? Tyler Liver Detox and ALA are more geared towards "detox and liver cleansing". I imagine EFA's will help but can anyone elso think of how to lower TRI profile?

I would imagine that fish, flax, or borage oil would work pretty well. Right now i am taking fish oil at 4000mg a day, along with garlic and CoQ10 for heart health.

Do you want to do it naturally or with drugs? Naturally, things to do are lose weight if you are fat, lower saturated fats, supplement with omega 3 fatty acids, in short all the usual things doctors recommend.

Niacin will raise HDL cholesterol as well as lower triglycerides. Take an aspirin an hour beforehand if the flushing is bothersome. A high fiber diet helps, as does supplementing with psyllium.

Prescription cholesterol lowering drugs like fibrins (Gemfibrozil) are very effective at lowering triglycerides, but doctors like to try the other things first.

Take "no flush" niacin, it is as effective as niacin without the side effects. Inositol Hexanicotinate is what you are looking for.

"Inositol Hexanicotinate is what you are looking for"

Thanx----but what the hell is it and where can I get it?

Any other suggestions? Fiber lowers overall chol....that's NOT the problem, my grandfather has high-as-hell triglycerides but his overall cholesteol is 199 (normal)

I just talked to my father about this question, who is a specialist in internal medicine. His response was:

1. Eliminate all dairy prods from diet. (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!)

2. Zero alcohol intake.

3. Make sure thyroid is at proper level (which of course means
get on the T3, in our terms)

4. For drug therapy, try trifibrates such as lipidil micron first,
before resorting to gimfibrozil (lopid)

Under optimal conditions, it takes at least 6-8 weeks to see really solid results when attempting to lower triglycerides. Based on your possible genetic disposition (ie your grandfather), you may need to go the pharmaceutical route to get results. Good luck.
