Best way to help Katrina victims??

I had a couple hundred earmarked for yet another Red Cross donation. Then I seen an article in the paper about them more or less keeping the money. I had visions of the money being earmarked for future GOP elections since Bob Dole and his wife were/are so tight with them. That scared me.

I feel a need to give despite considering bankruptcy at the time. A couple hundred will not make areal difference.




And......I am betting that Brown & Root/Halliburton/Cheney/Bushbarians do their best to get yet another no bid contract for rebuilding the New Orleans levys.

Have you ever paid taxes? You've already given. To the tune of a few BILLION.

You'd do more just driving there and handing out 20 dollar bilsl to every homeless black person you see there. Those charities only donate like 20% of your dollar -- rest go into "rainy day funds" or "expenses" (salaries, bonuses, cushy buildings with leather chairs).

I'd give money immediately to the first charity that demands a criminal records check before handing out the money. You know, the more deserving get the funds.

From the stories I've been told by locals , people are not giving $$$ to the red cross , salvation army, due to the very nonsense Razorguns is talking about. Not to mention the stories of African Americans being left by evacuation busses like strangers calling for a cab at night The best bet is to give to a local (local to new orleans) charity. Fats Domino , Irma Thomas , Allen Touissant , Harry Conick Jr , The Nevilles , University of New orleans are all good places to start

Master P is also a good place to go No Limit Records which is part of Priority would be another. The money would definitly go to local folks
