Best pizza?

I read somewhere recently that if you just have to have a pizza the best thing to order is a thin-crust green pepper pizza with half the cheese and double the sauce. The rationale is that of all the toppings, green peppers pack the most nutritional punch, and the tomato sauce is loaded with lycopene, which has antioxidant properties. Obviously half the cheese saves a buttload of calories and fat, and the thin crust assures that you are eating the least amount of refined flour possible.

Certainly this is not cutting food, but if you are trying to eat healthfully and get a craving for pizza, this is probably the best choice.

And forget about pepperoni. Each slice has 30 calories on average, with each slice of pizza having about 4 slices of pepperoni on it.

It does not matter which way you eat pizza... it is never the best thing you can eat. Why don't you just eat a giant fudge bar while you are at it???

Ummm, did you actually read my post?

I didn't say it was the best thing you could eat, and definitely not for cutting, but I see lots of posts on the board about "cheat" meals and such, and I was pointing out that nutritionally it is pretty sound.

I wouldn't eat a giant fudge bar since it is not much more than sugar and largely devoid of any nutritional value. Hope that answers your question :)

Pizza with non-fat cheese is good and healthy.

If you throw away
cheese,
sausages,
cream,
fried onions,
bacon,
peperoni

and add
chicken,
tuna,
egg whites

pizza can be very healthy :D :D

I agree... but then what is the point in eating it then???;)

now come on guys

We all know that the chicken parm pizzas are the absolute best and most healthy. they provide the best amount of everything including fat, carbs, colesterol, and all that good stuff. we all need at least one pizza every 3 days to cut up to below 6% bodyfat. duh its a standard in this sport!

by the way i was kidding about that whole thing.

I make my own pizzas. I use 100% whole wheat pita bread as the base. Cover it thinly with some tomato paste, and put heaps of green peppers, onions, mushrooms, chicken, sliced tomato, roast beef and a little mozzarella cheese.

I've broken down the nutritional info. Each pita pizza has about 30 grams of carbs, 25 grams of protein and 6-8 grams of fat. Not bad for a nice little snack. However, I'll usually eat two of those suckers.

So yeah, you can make decent pizza, but I doubt you can buy any from a pizza joint that is OK if you are on a diet.

pizza is actually a pretty good bulking food, if its occasional

get vegetarian with chicken, think crust

I always make my own pizza. I have lots of meat on like chicken, shrimps, ham and other stuff making my pizza a big protein bomb. The amount of protein will also lower the GI. To lower it even more I add some Psylium seeds and sometimes flax seeds.
If you want even lower GI, just drink some viniger(tasted like shit, hehe). Instead of cheese I add some low fat(1%) cheese on mine. Tasted better than the pizza from pizza hut ;)

Yes it does. But if you read your post again it says nothing about a cheat. Yes, it does say not to eat it for cutting, and it would be a good thing if you were craving pizza. But said nothing of being a cheat.

IMO, I would rather just stay away from it and substitute the nutritional values with something else.

Haz & Alfons- bravo!! I respect someone that takes the time to prepare their own meals. Cooking shows alot about a person in the time and effort that put into each meal. <no sarcasm>
