The most productive chest exercise I have ever done is dips on a set of parallel bars. You can use a fair amount of weight through a huge range of motion.Lately, I have been experimenting with decline barbell presses, and they are awesome.

Monstar-It's a close call.Dips have been productive up until now, but I have just recently started declines and my strength and poundages have just skyrocketed, not to mention my chest development.

Declines huh bro? Thats crazy declines have always worked for me I think they put the pecs in their strongest position. Without much activation of the front delts or tris. I could be wrong but I can always feel dips and declines better then flat / incline presses.
:D:D

i dont think i could pick one that made my chest stronger than the other because you can't really tell. Its the total workout, but what kills the most i think are inclines

bigmag..

Pec-deck flyes huh? Did they help you out iwth definition or just overall pec development... I think I must be doing them wrong because I have tried about 5 different pec-deck machines and I cant get a good pec workout from any of them..
:(:(

for me...heavy dumbbells on flat bench.................

MonStar.. If you have a pec deck in your gym with the type of handles you grip ( as opposed to placing your forearms on ), try doing just one pec at a time.. Saw a fella doing it a while back, and tried it out.. Cant believe what a difference it has made.. Until doing it this way, I never felt much from them either..

Sissy push-ups. . . you know the ones where your knees are on the ground

heh heh. . . seriously though it's gotta be the flat bench movements for me with proper form

I've always loved dumbell inclines. Its my favourite chest exercise, and I can really feel my pecs working when doing it. I think its the best.

Well from the general consensus that "heavier" makes the muscle grow the most, barbell flatbench should theoretically be the best chest builder, although for favourite exercise, I really like Dumbbell flies and cable crossovers.

This thread is 4.5 years old. LoL I'm betting the original poster no longer cares. LoL But I like low incline BB bench meself.
i'm betting most of the posters no longer post on EF!

I would say that to build mass, flat barbell bench and weighted dips are best. Dips tend to hit the entire upper body. If I had to pick a third, I prefer Dumbell Incline presses with the incline bench lowered. The higher the bench, the more it puts the strain on the shoulders.

Dumbbells and flys are cute and all...but if you arent pushing bars with an assload of weight on them, you're not going to get as big and strong as you could.

IMO Dumbbells and flys are stuff to finish with. First 8-10 sets should always be a combination of Flat/Incline/Decline barbell.

My vote went to the flat bench especially with a slightly wide grip.

when i am changing the oil on my truck and im up under it.. i like to press up on the front and back axels and press it about 30 times for a good burn.. i mean its a few thousand punds but it defines them pretty good.. i only get to do that workout every 3,000 miles thos :qt:

leave the flyes and cables and pec deck for the guys ready to step onstage. If you want mass, yo' ass need to press and dip!

ideally, flat bench press with a barbell is the exercise "du jour". Best combination of overall mass, strength and upper pec involvement, done properly.

Decline DB presses probably involve the most amount of pectoral mass in a position where it gets the most ROM combined with the best strength advantage.

Incline DB/bar presses of course, focus on the upper pec since so many people have overdeveloped lower pecs. I've never had that issue and as such, never really felt the need to include Incline work in my pec workouts for any period of time

to each his/her own.
