best city to live in?

every time some one psots this people list where they live and then tell others why the place they listed sucks so I refuse to participate.
I just know that I will need to live in a big city for now. I need and am used to a faster pace of life. Also my interests span beyond the commodities that can be found in smaller more rural areas.

everyone knows is Portland Oregon, telling you this is going to be a mecca of culture and big business in the future. Desirable locations with nature and a huge seaport to Asia and China.
The place is a goldmine if one were thinking longterm realestate investing
IN THE FUTURE, PORTLAND WILL BECOME BIGGER THAN NEWYORK!! Seattle is a flawed geographic region already overcrowded, no room to grow.
Portland has the area, the flexibility and the infrastructure with public transit and the best biking city in the US has its eye on the ball. Every city does stuff wrong, but Portland, Im pretty darned impressed with as of late

Anywhere around New England is very good for family-type living. NY, Boston, NJ, CT.
Southern sections of US have better weather --- but you'll feel like a miniscule ant lost in a sea of millions of people who could care less about you.
LA is gerat if you cdan somehow not get so wraped up in just "living" in la.

I've been lot's of places and have never felt the urge to leave the Denver area. Great weather, lot's of outdoors stuff to do, lot's of businesses in every field.
After Denver I'd have to say:
Boston
Calgary
Lewiston MT
Seattle
these are in no particular order.

Well I just can't say Atlanta is a great place to live. I guess it's sufficient but not really.
Portland -- waaay to liberal. They tax like its still the booming town of the 90s and I understand there is a cap on the amount of building or something like that that can be done there. I.e. they specifically don't want it to get too big.
Lake Wobegon. Only if you are a Norwegian bachelor farmer.
