benzyl alcohol -VS.- Everclear

When making Fina or Synovex into an injectable Benzyl Alcohol is usually used to kill any bacteria. Instead of ordering Benzyl Alcohol wouldn't Everclear from the liquor store do the same thing? If so, would the same amounts be used? Thanks.
