hey fellas, thought'd I post a flat barbell bench PR...

this is my fifth week on a program biggt and i worked out a while back...

age: 20
bw: 178

45x10
135x10
185x5
205x5
225x5
275x1 PR (bit slow)
275x1 (slow in the middle but locked it out)
275x1 (probably the best rep)
185x8
185x8

any thoughts on grooving a PR weight faster? it didn't feel that heavy but I wasn't sure how fast to move it down and kept trying to find that comfort zone...

thanks yall

yes....start using bands and chains in your workouts.

also, when maxing out, don't do so many reps. Do something like this:

135x3
155x3
185x3
225x1
255x1
275x1
285x?

Nice work. Your true 1 RM is probably another 15-20lbs higher.....Remember, 3 singles are tough. Are you doing 5's next week??

i dunno bro, what you got in mind? we just labeled week 6 as PR Week but I'm not sure if thats 5s, 3s, 2s, 1s...

Nice work. Congrats on the PR. 3 singles at a new weight is hard work.

Very good point. It's one thing to do 3 singles at a known percentage of 1RM, but when you are doing 3 singles, all at a new 1RM...that's pretty impressive!
