Has anyone here had a hernia in the abdomen before? If so what did actions did you take to remedy the situation?

none, personally. a friend of mine had, he's been training intensely after about 8 months. it's like anything else, you've got to be patient and find your comfort zone.

thanks, I hope Im not out of it for too long, in the middle of too much to be useless.
nah, but look at how long it takes for skin to fuse. then look at how long it will take for the skin to become pliable again. the ability to stretch and not cause pain. i didn't have a hernia operation, but i did have surgery before. it can take a long time, sometimes, for that area to feel normal again. like i said, experiment on what you can do without pain and focus on that.

Been there done that, I just hate having to deal with being/feeling not active. On the other hand the last surgey I had they gave me enough meds to forget about it for a while, but I know when to say when and let the pain I can handle persist as to start a habit. I'll atleast get some good forearm training in! lol

there is always something you can do. i had a spinal injury and they said no lifting over 10lbs. so i took a bunch of thera-bands and rigged them so i could do upper body stuff. it was better than nothing & prolly helped in recovery.

:) Good idea. I was going to use light weights for something to keep my muscles working, but I never thought of the bands idea. That would be more convienient and less cumbersome. Thanks Target!

I've had 2 hernia operations so far. I can't spell their proper names without looking it up. One was in the belly button, and the other was in the groin. The groin took longer to heal and was more painful.
The depresion from not training was the worst part of it. The sooner you get it taken care of the sooner you'll get your life back.
Good luck.

Mine is right above my navel as well. The name of it is Hiatal Hernia. Could have been worst like apendisitis, aortic aneurism, scirosis of the liver, ect. I'll deal with it, I just wish I didn't have to you know. What really pisses me off is that I was two munths into cutting and I don't want to lose any abdominal gains I've gotten. This is just icing on the cake for the "Worst year of my life!" oh well, life goes on.

I had an unbiblical(sp) hernia. A hiatal hernia has something to do with a weakening of the throat/stomach area I think. I didn't know they had an operation for that.
I had a cat scan on my heart and they found a tiny hiatal hernia. I don't have any symptoms yet, not even acid reflux.
