Cuts

Guest
I've been wearing loose fitting t-shirts to the gym since November or so... b/c I'd put on some fat last summer drinking. So for 4 months now I've been cutting. Just the other day, we had a "warm" day here in Chicago (40 degrees), so I decide to wear a fitted tank top to the gym.

I trained chest, delts, and tris and BOOM! I must say I looked pretty good... not huge or super powerful, but pumped, tanned and CUT. So many dudes & chicks were doing double takes... the dudes especially--some of which are much bigger & stronger than me, but not at all cut--were doing that peripheral vision thing trying to check my physique out without my noticing.

Big strong dudes are a dime a dozen, but for this lifter anyway, being CUT and DEFINED is the way to go! Anybody agree? Disagree?

later bros

I wish I could feel ya bro. That happened to me when I cut from 250-203, now I am cutting again as I bulked back up to around 212, and want to get down to around 195 for Triatholon Training. I find that my weight is a little high for running 6 miles and biking 25 miles and swimming 1 mile, but damn I do like to work out.

im tryin to get cut right now, ive gone from 250 to 213 and im pleased with the way its goin, another month or so and i should be decently cut. then its tiem for bulking.

I understand what you're saying, but I've gotta disagree man. Cut people are everywhere. At every gym in every city, there are dozens of them cruisin away on the stairmasters. The thing I find rare and have respect for is the guy that has a look of functional power. Not too huge, not necessarily cut, but you can just feel the fucker walk past you.

Also,

Getting cut is simply a matter of diet.

True size is years and years of diet, training, and dedication

I have a friend who is 6'2" and ripped at 170...a dime a dozen to me.

I'll take being freakishly big any day...I get quite a few looks from people...even with my clothes on.

I would rather be big and strong and useful for athletic events instead of looking like a hollywood yuppie who is following the latest craze.

I could care less if I turn heads. My training is not meant for impressing other people. People need to mind their own business anyway.

For me getting cut is easy, but in order to do this I must sacrifice strength. . . .that is not in my agenda.

i respect anyone who takes the time to improve their physiques....

anyone who does something besides side on their fat blob of an ass and stuff their fat faces with garbage deserves some credit.

I know what you mean. However there are lots of skinny cut guys at the gym. I finally feel like I've reached the point where I'd actually look like I worked out when I was at very low BF. So now I'm gradually taking the fat off with a huge emphasis on retaining muscle, and maybe gaining a small amount.

And by the way, it's all about the underarmor sleeveless top (black) when you're cut :)

i agree big and strong is the way, I don't gain fat too easily, but I seem to put on muscle pretty quick...its very easy to lose fat, but harder to gain muscle.

the problem with being thin/cut is.........

unless you spend all your time in a speedo, nobody can tell u from the skinny sticks that don't work out and just starve themselves.

a pumped, semi cut guy, like casavette's recent cutting pics, is the way i want to look.

dressed in a suit, jeans and t-shirt, tank top, it doesn't matter.......with that size and mass you will get noticed no matter how you dress.

Indeed, that's the look I like and aim for. While I train more for power and sport, if I could describe the way I'd like to look it would take one word... Dangerous.

I have to wear loose t-shirts, I haven't gotten my license yet for these guns. Dont want people thinkin i'm a terrorist or something walking around with unlicensed guns...

my main goal for now is gettin cut, but then i wanna bulk up and stay decently cut. im doing it for myself and no one else, ive been chubby my whole life and am sick of it. now its my turn to get some looks. :D

are you surprised? there are very few peeps in this world whose heart and soul is as big as their torso!!

I know a millioin punks who look fit in a tank top, but those who have the bulk to look buff in a winter sweater are the ones that stand out. Bulk over definition, at least here in the Northeast

I don't where tanktops until the summer. I have never been cut... so i can't wait until summer somes to show people what i'm made of. :D

no offense to wizkid but im pretty sure its not, looks like one of those Klitzko boxing brothers but bigger. know ive seen him before though

at 5'8 175 and 8% body fat u can say i'm pretty cut. but i'm tired of being cut. i need to put on about 20 lbs and drop some jaws

Agreed.

If you look at todays competitive rugby players, they have that not too huge, but functional power look, while being below 15 % BF....

You can call it semi/cut semi/big, but you can also call it : a nice balance and I think that is at least what drugfree trainees should shoot for.

It seems that, at least here, muscle is more valued than low bodyfat. I'd happen to agree, simply because it seems like it's more than a bit tougher to gain muscle than lose fat. I mean, ask a bunch of people how to lose fat and you'll hear one response: caloric deficit. Eat less. Ask a bunch of people how to gain muscle and you'll have dozens of different answers.

That being said, being cut is definitely nice. It's always nice to see what you've been building.

Agreed with the above post. Good point.

And to Thaibox, karma coming your way.

Amen Amen!
Apparently i look fairly intimidating already...i amactually a pretty nice guy but hey, that's life. Maybe i'll put a pic up if someone could help me. Still need more work however.

yeah i'm one of those cut people too, and i envy all the monsters in my gym
when i can wear a baggy shirt and still look huge, i'll be happy

That's what I'm talking about. Sebass you have the raw size bro... now just put on say about 10-20 more lbs of muscle and lose fat and BAM you'll look badass.

What are your #s now anyway?

6'1 258 right now...
Training to be as big and strong as i can. I am 20..

Bench 300ish(haven;t maxed in a while)
Squat 405X8,455X1...going up soon
Deadlift 500

I'll let you know in about 2 months.

Whoa! I like the screen name.

I like to stay pretty lean, granted you can't chisle Mount Rushmore out of a grain of sand unfortunatly.

Cuts, that 40 degree day was nice, now the weather sucks again.

I agree that Sebass's arms look like shit (trying to motivate you bro ;)), but in his defense, the kid's only 20 years old! Hey Sebass, how do you spell Canada?

C-A-N-A-D-A- eh

Strider: yeah dude but I saw that friggin groundhog come out the other day (he died of hyporthermia) and I think that means spring is right around the corner... can't wait... Chicago in the spring is badass :D ...

hmm, being cut is all fine

being really big is aswell

but there are fine lines between really cut an really big, there are nice mixes where you dont only look big, but people can actually see defined muscle.

If i had to go either, i would go big, so i could kick these cut punks asses :wavey:

Damn you all! ;)

Here is the thing though. I got some long arms...
I need to get bigger, when i bend my arm though it looks alright...

To me it's all about practicallity, i think if i just get stronger my arm size will go up.

Maybe i should take a pic of my arms when i am done going to the gym...seems like they just get massive when i am working out...

But yeah the whole body to arm thing gets on me once in a while....

Their is nothing like it, that first over 60 day is the best. All the short skirts and tank tops come out.;) I can't wait either, doesn't help I work out in this shit either.

I do too :)

Just remember that when they get big...they will look HUGE!!!

Long arm problem here too. Like b said, it may take a little more work than others, but they'll look better. They don't have to be that big anyway, 'cause like gman said you look like a Russian Mobster:) .

The real question is...are one of those F-bodies yours?

agreed about the long arm problem. thats what seperated Arnold ( i know i know) from the rest of everyone. most bodybuilders were under 6ft tall....... here comes 6'1-2 arnold with these long arms, but when they filled at to the same proportion as the little guys, WOW!!!!!!!

i have short legs but long arms so my legs carry mass easy, but i have to but it hard for my legs.

but on the subject: i dont wear the same clothes everyday or watch the same thing everyday. i like variety. so i dont like looking only 1 way. i have blown up huge and i have ripped up. i like the feeling and look of power being huge offseason powerlifting and moving big weights. but then i like to see that i do still have abs and go for reps. thats just me. i like both, so i do both.

I got a mustang...my bro has a 96 z28...

I felt very shunned the whole time...

Ohhhhh.... Here ThaiBox goes on the camaros again.... LOL

You missed the rest of the pic thai, there was a bunch of "F-bodies" in the background and you didn't get to see it! Naa naa naaa naaaa naaa ;)

Sorry... had a smart ass urge run through my veins....

nope...not the look for me. Sure...you're a big guy and sure you could kick my ass...but all I'd have to do is climb a couple flights of steps and watch ya give up from exhaustion :D

Cut doesn't have to be skinny/thin. I prefer cut in a muscular athletic sense...I'm 5'9" 182 and just started my cardio/cut diet and training for the summer. The majority of guys at my gym are big and soft looking with little to no definition. I'd like to drop ~8-10 lbs and put on about ~10lbs of LBM in the next year or so. Here I am as of last week

Looks are deceiving...thing is i do some hard cardio at least twice a week so i am eating tons just to keep my weight.

I ran like 10.75 in the beep test which i think is repectable...

im with everyone on being big over cut! id rather be massive like the guys from animal mass than cut anyday thoughs guys r huge!!
