my buddy played in theater and wants to come in NY or Los Angeles and try to become a movie actor.
he has muscles lol and wants role in action movies or TV...
what does he have to do ? I mean where does he have to go ,who does he have to see ... anybody who knows here ?

this should help in a such jungle :)

ok...
yes he is very charismatic and has a lot of humor too...he wants action movie (he always moves !!)
he doesn't have thaeter special degree, just used to play for several role in amateur theater here in France...

I think this sounds like a really excellent idea!

seriously, we have a veritable drought of actors here and perhaps your friend can come and remedy the problem.
Hollywood waits with open arms.
I would say the only thing that would be more of a sure thing for him to get into is perhaps professional basketball.

Corn is right, he will need an agent, BUT, he must put together a great resume' and alot of good head, and/or body shots with the resume' printed on the back(Kinko's is great for this)

At first he will probally get alot of background, and extra work until his resume' and talent improves(unless he is VERY, VERY lucky)

The actor industry is a very dog eat dog world, patience is the key, and he will definately need another day job to make ends meet...Once he has aquired enough credits(per sey) he will need to get his screen actors guild union card, this alone will increase his pay(even for background/extra work) and perhaps afford him the opportunity for more advanced roles...

Be aware, the dues to join SAG at first is very expensive, mine several years ago ran me around 1,400$, but after that, dues are pretty much based upon income(can you imagine what Tom Cruise pays?)

I wish him alot of luck, it can be fun at times, but mostly it's pretty boring, and long, long ass days....

Yea jeez just look at some of the actors today, not all look like Brad Pitt. There is as much a demand for "everyday" looking guys as there are prettyboys. Learn to swallow your pride and have ambition.

Supernav you are right my man, BUT, most states(not talking about hollywood or New York) are right to work states and will employ non-union actors...Yes, it is frowned upon by SAG, but the production teams also employ SAG actors to make up for it...But, I do agree, SAG is the way to go, and good benefits as well....
