FORMER MR. SOUTH CAROLINA IN JAIL ON DRUG CHARGES
The bust here in Horry County comes after a 10 day investigation involving the United States Postal Service. Cops say they seized needles, viles, pills, a hand gun and computers from Williams' Horry County residence on Tuesday. Sgt. Andy Christenson says they got a tip two weeks ago that led them to Williams. "The Horry County Police Department Narcotics Division received information for the US Postal Service in regards to wanting to initiate a joint investigation into steroids." Police say the federal postal inspectors found out about the drugs after obtaining a warrant and opening a package. Inside they found anabolic steroids. According to police, the packages were being sent from various locations to Kim David Williams, a former Mr. South Carolina body-building champion. Williams was arrested on Tuesday by undercover agents. Christenson says, "Being that the suspect lives in our jurisdiction, our narcotics officers were contacted where a controlled delivery was made of the package that was coming through the mail." Williams now faces several charges. "He's being charged with possession of anabolic steroids 100 or more doses and also possession of a scheduled 1 to 5 controlled substance and simple possession of marijuana." The average street value of one dose of steroids is $25. If convicted on the charges, Williams could face 5 to 10 years in prison.
