BD vs B-D ( Naming Convention )

So many threads that just use the "BD" initials, I dont know if they are talking about British Dragon or British Dispensary.

Is there a naming convention I am unaware about? For instance
BD = British Dispensary,
B-D = British Dragon?

I've always referred to BD as British dragon.
