Those that compete or want to or recently went to the Arnold

(we didn't get to go...same weekend as our son's b'day! :( and he didn't wanna celebrate a different weekend)

what music have you used or would use or were impressed with that the pro women bodybuilders used?

i want to do a show in the fall or next spring....and haven't a clue about what would really catch everyone's attention!

I've been considering a whole gamut of styles - from African or Native American drumming to opera, ambient to house, rock to oldies ... and still have NO FUCKING CLUE, lol!

Ha ha - how about shamisen or koto, kabuki style? That's gotta grab some attention!

Mostly, the key point, IMO, not that I know that much about it, is to find music that really fits your aura, your attitude, your look - THAT'S what'll grab their attention, and that's what I'm looking for.

I think its a little harder for women because the hard stuff doesn't necessarily go over well when you are trying to be "feminine". I got away with a custom mix of just instrumental parts of Metallica / No Leaf Clover, and I also did Queen/We Are the Champions. You usually see a lot of women doing Britney Spears' "Stronger", other pop songs, female singers.

I'm going through the same question myself now. Personally I hate pop music so its really hard for me to pick something. I wanted to get a mix that starts w/ Kid Rock "Bawiddaba", buuuuuut... I've also been considering things like:

Rolling Stones / Satisfaction --- might be interesting to get the Britney Spears' rendition from that awards ceremony...
BonJovi / Its My Life
Janet Jackson -- except none of her stuff has any strong crescendos to make them more exciting for a 60-90 sec mix
Nelly Furtado - ??
Heart / Barracuda ??

I don't - still looking I guess. I supposed some of the old hair band songs would work too -- something recognizable but not too fast or hard.

I'd like to see any other suggestions too....

BUMP!

I luv heavy metal...head bangin stuff....

and really want it to be SEXY!!....

come on gurls and guys....more ideas here...

Lobo...and W6....u guys surely know what your wives....trainees have used that worked well!!!

How about some techno-dance style stuff - there's a cool song out called 'Sandstorm'.

For music to lift to, I'm a big fan of 'rage against the machine' - "Sleep now in the fire" "Testify".

Or you could go classic with "Van Halen" - I LOVE 'Ain't talkin bout love' & 'jump'.

when I was going to compete...I was going to use rob zombie's dragula. There is also a remix of that song out on morpheus/winmx and it is sweet, too! If you can't find it and are interested in it...let me know I can send it to you!

Heavy metal music is a bad choice for bodybuilding routines these days..ESPECIALLY female routines.
Present yourself with a touch of class and elegance. I think girls have it rough. To find a routine that looks right is hard for the female gender. In my opinon good choices are dance/hip hop/ or techno/house music.

Here are my suggestions, they're not quite mainstream, if you're going for something rocking, I seriously suggest these:

Jeff Buckley: Eternal Life (this song rocks because of the "I've got a red glitter coffin, and I need just one last nail" line. Jeff rocks)

At the Drive In: anything off of Relationship of Command. (this is all I listen to when on the treadmill, and it makes me want to run until I fall over)

PJ Harvey: Maniac (I know PJ doesn't usually rock, but this song is really unconventional, and has all kinds of really sarcastic "I need a man" lines)

Lil' Kim: Suck My Dick (probably too explicit, but the line "If I was a dude, I'd tell y'all to suck my dick" always makes me wanna shake my booty)

If you want mp3s, I have lots! This is fun!;) ;) ;) ;)

This song f***ing rocks hard.

I totally agree w/ what Flex said -- its just hard to come up w/ a good posing routine if you prefer the hard edge stuff. And absolute no-no's are anything w/ explicit lyrics or swearing in it. Especially for women it is still important to retain the "class" & "feminity"

Thanks everyone!...

this has given me some great ideas! I also think i'm gonna order at least one video of some of the recent women's competitions to get an idea of posing transitions....music changes...ect....

i agree i think this is fun too....
