I was skeptical going into it. Nicholson is a very tough act to follow as the Joker, but Ledger did a phenomenal job. Bale is a very credible Batman and I liked their choice of using Chicago as it actually is, rather than a cartoony set that is overly dark and imposing as Gotham.
I'm a fan of the Gyllehaal's, so having Maggie in there didn't bother me one bit. It's a pretty involved film. At 2.5 hours, you get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of plot. One thing you do not get here, as you would in, for example, Wanted, is this feeling of being overwhelmed by technology or special FX. While explosions abound, nothing is too "out there."
Best line of the movie is the Joker's parody of Jerry Maguire when talking to Batman. You can probably guess the line.
All things considered, it was a fun ride and worth the price of admission.
