BANNED!!! What are the alternatives?

Was just thinking aobut the whole Bodytemple75 situation. For those that missed it....he got banned for being stupid. Seems that quite a few people disagree with him being banned......largely because of the medicrity of his offence and the particular circumstances.

Anyhow, at the moment you are either in or out. Is it possible in use a time out feature. So for example, if somebody flames admin then could they be suspended for a couple of days and then allowed back? Seems that this is more likely to keep members happy and it gives members a chance to correct mistakes........an important point seeing as most people (including the mods, admin etc) seem to be unclear as to what warrants getting banned.

Just a thought.
 
What about if it is a doctor ordered banning? :evil:

Most people know what they did to be banned, and know what they need to do to correct the problem.

I avoided commenting on the other thread, but here is my two cents, and yes I want change.

In my not so humble opinion.

I like both Body75 and Bella from their posts. The fact that they are both from Jersey also effects my opinion.

But he was out of line. The internet email chain letter crap doesn't interest me. I suspect that is more of a hosting issue, and the administration not wanting the board to be manipulated for stupid trash. I've viewed other boards that were cluttered with the nonsense. It isn't an issue here precisely because someone is handling the silliness.

He was out of line for what he said. It isn't a matter of degrees. In any organziation someone has to be the hard ass, to keep the rest towing the line. It sucks being that guy, because at some point you will piss just about everyone off in one way or another.

It also strikes some as unfair because the personality of the individual doing the job can't help but leak out in the standards. What I find acceptable, or someone else does, will always be different. There is never a perfect answer that will satisfy all. Stop anti (insert race,gender, religion) rants and half the people cry free speech and political correctness. Don't and the other half complain that you are fostering and encouraging bigots.

What ever the standards, they can only be enforced, especially on an internet board, with a no bull shit policy. BT75 is old enough to understand that simple fact. Don't call the guy out, because whether he wants to or not he then has to make an example, or risk having everyone do the same. Precedents matter as much as examples.

I hope the guy is reinstated, and I would hate to see the two of them never post again. But it isn't a democracy, its a business.

A) That would make sense
B) It would require effort to implement
C) It would be fair

Three resons why you will never see that policy effected at EF.
 
How about these alternatives?

#1 Don't do dumb shit that goes against common sense and get yourself banned in the first place.

#2 If you do mess up with #1, then don't avoid the warnings you get about it.

Ok apparently this already exists.

Example:

Curling was kicked out for a week before he got himself banned. When he came back he didnt change and got himself banned indefinitely........kinda.
 
I think you should be forced to look at DT's Penis Pics... if that doesn't work then you should have to look at BBF's penis pics..
 
As you already know Elite Fitness does a fair share of internet marketing, we have members that subscribe to our news letter and look forward to receiving it every Monday. unfortunately due to the huge amounts of spam being sent out, spam filters are stopping our e-mails from reaching their destination.
From my point of view, spam is evil and I would love nothing more then to find the guy responsible for all that spam and roundhouse kick him to the head, maybe even cut his forehead with my elbows... But most of you guys could care less about the way spam is ruining internet marketing...

BTW- bodytemple has been reinstated.

We went from banning source poster and disrespectful members to now banning people just cause we think they are dumb... I'm a pretty dumb mofo myself, should I be banned?
 
It's all subjective though.

Propagating spam, IMO, is just as bad as making it.

I lack common sense, so I guess you could ban me.

Let me check the pm from the management.......

EDIT:Management say you went for a week and screwed up when you came back.........leading to total banning. Sounds like two different stories.........

Not that I remember. I remember that some other people wanted me kicked off and I got warned. Then I really screwed up posting while I was pissed about the beheaded in the middle east. But hey I could be wrong but that is what I remember.

Posted under about 4 handles before petitioning to come back.

come on guys..banned..is this for real?
it was harmless...no need to go to such an extreme. BT has alot of good post on this board... he actually has something to say, he offers alot to the board, hes given alot of memebers some helpful advice. I could see if this was on going behavoir & he was out of control disrespecting alot of people. No body has every complained about him before.

Think about it, you post a thread asking people's opinion..and then you have people calling you an idiot & all kinds of others names...You really expect someone not to stick up for themselves? Come one now...Any one would have done the same. I say let it slide.....This is a reidiculous reason to bann someone....
