Bally's Total Bitchness....

I got suckered into a 3 year contract at Bally's and now i wanna go to Gold's. Anyone know how to get out of it? Should I go to my doctor and fake a back injury or what?

Were any of you able to get out of their contract?

doctors note is the only way... read the back of the contract, it should give you the details of how you have to submitt it (probably registered mail)...

i'd also follow up with the general manager to make sure that it gets done properly...

there's actually a thread on c&c about this, oh, wait that was you that posted it :)

good luck (i'm with bally's now, i hate it, but it's the best there is close to me... it's in a mall and its always full of mall girls who stare at me, but oh well... )

Know what you mean.

I worked for 5 years as a trainer with bally's, and I do understand. They do that b.s. on purpose to keep their numbers up.

A doctors note will do the trick, otherwise the only real option is providing proof that you live thirty miles away from any of their locations ( that's why they have as many branches as a mc'ds).

I am with golds now, and can honestly say it's the best gym I have ever used, Hope to see you there. E

From my experience, a doctor note is the only way to go. I tried to prove that I moved further than 30 miles away from one of their locations and they ended up having an affiliate gym in a nearby ghost town, population 100! I ended up taking them to court and they finally allowed me out of the contract but way too much hassle.

I used to see ads of people selling Bally's memberships in the classified 10 years ago.Maybe they let you sell it?anyone know about this?

My husband had a membership at Ballys, then moved from one state to another state. In the new state, there were 2 Bally locations in town, and they both sucked. He actually managed to prove that the services and equipment provided were so different in the new state/town that it was basically a breach of contract, and they let him out. It was a hassle, but he had several conversations with their main office, and he is VERY persistent. They tried to tell him that the manager of the location in the new town would have to document that his gym was inferior, and my husband was like, "That's bullshit! What makes you think this guy is going to document that his gym is inferior to the gym in the other state that I bought my membership at, which he has never even been to?" They eventually saw the logic in that, and just had my husband send a written complaint - then they let him out of the contract.

Good luck!
