my training partner just told me ill never get bigger then i am. im too small, and my triceps are flat?!?!

this is coming from a guy who can bench 455, ill give him that, has squatted 495 and deaded 585. and is basically the same fram as me, just a lil wider. i told him my tris are big, just genetically short, they start about 3 inches up from my elbow. the point is, hes been stuck at 455 for 2 years, while i progress.

i told him i eat more then him, sleep more, and am smarter about lifitng. he also had the balls to tell me ill never bench more then 385. LOLOL. i told him muscle size has nothing to do with muslce strength.

where do people come off assuming things???

anyone ever get this?

SHow him wrong. I do agree that your diet is off, but we have talked about this already.

Over a year ago, when I had 16" arms or so a large bodybuiling told me I have great genetics for calves and delts, but would never have big arms. Now they are 19", and I'm still making gains on them slowly. Don't let the attitudes of others drag you down, instead use it to motivate yourself to prove them wrong.

Was he being an incosiderate asshole or just trying to piss you off to motivate you more?

Plus...he is stuck at 455 for one of two reasons: mental or now changing things enough on his chest.

Want to make a brief summary on how to add 3 inches to arms in 1 year?

the funny thing is i hit 365 today, it went like this:

135x12
225x5
275x1
315x1
335x1
365x1

ive been stuck on the bench cuz of various injuries over the past year. but im over them and in the past 4 months ive gained alot back on my bench.

he just said today that i i wont get past 385 a year from today... thats 20 pounds in a year, i know i will. im only 20, i havent even hit my peak yet, i prolly got another 10 good years left.

It's time to find a new training partner

Your friend is jealous that you're making progress and he's not, but I'm sure you already know that :)

He is your workout partner, so I think that he is trying to goat you. My old/only workout partner, that is now in the Marines, was subjected to daily and persistent shit talking by myself. I got him into working out, and still tell him he owes everything he has physique wise to me. We used to fight in the gym and I would have hit him if he hadn't fought competitively. We used it as motivation, I think too many times training partners are involved in a love fest. It's like the first time he deadlifted 405 when we were 18, most people would have congratulated him. I told him that he was a little bitch and put on my belt and pulled 500. He actually then loaded 425 and pulled just out of humiliation.
I guess its different strokes for different folks! :chomp:
