Backpacking and Nutrition

Ok heres the deal. Two years ago my friend got me into backpacking (3-5 day trips) and now I love it but the typical diet and foods to bring on a trip are pretty lousy for a bodybuilding diet (to much fat and simple carb calories). Any help from someone who is experience in this area would be appreciated thanks.

Beef jerky, turkey jerkey, fish jerky. If you read the labels, you can find lean varieties. I've tried the turkey and beef--not bad. The fish sounds nasty, but I don't know your tastes.

Bro i've done plenty of tripping.

The key is to prepare ahead of time. you can take any kind of food you want as long as it's properly "prepapred" and "stored" I've taken meat sauce which i frooze several days ahead of time. Chicken breasts (pre-cooked). I've even made pizza over the fire.

YOU can take anything, but prepare and pack it properly.

Backpacking trips are essentially like endurance events. It's OK to eat differently when you're backpacking compared to your regular BB diet. You will be burning mainly carbs and fats for fuel. These should be the backbone of a backpacking diet. Most backpackers burn more calories than they consume so you don't have to worry about getting fat, especially on longer trips. Because many backpackers drink less water than normal, it's a good idea to not eat too much protein. However if you're anal about protein then protein powders are ultra light to carry. Just find one that mixes easily without a blender. But remember that carbs are protein sparing, especially for endurance activities......

Thanks for the advice guys but just a few things. Its not really possible to take whatever you want cuz you gotta go as light as possible when going for anything longer than 2 days. But I never thought about the endurance part thanks for the tip MS. And as for cans of tuna no. MREs are dinner and so far the rest of the meals during the day are granola, pbj, and jerky. Breakfast wass always instant oatmeal.
