Does anyone lay-off of deadlifts for a few weeks while incorporating another movement into their routine? I'm thinking str8 bar rows may yield better results for overall back and trap size than deads. I usually do Deads,T-bars, dbell rows...and then hit the lats with some lat pulls....dbell pullovers and finish off with hypers.....any thoughts?
 
Back and shoulders for me today bro. Your routine sounds good and yes I agree you will get more DIRECT stimulation in your back w/ rows than deads. I have not done deads in 2 years and my back is bigger and thicker than ever.

My routine:

Seated OHP
Bent over barbell rows/last 2 sets supers set w/ one arms
Lateral raises
shrugs
reverse lat pulldowns
upright rows

May do some front raises depending on time/ energy.

3 sets of 6-15 reps

Been doing this for almost 2 months w/ great results. Peace
 
SO, your only two back exercises really are rows and lat pulls.....sure uprights and shrugs hit the trap, but don't build the bulk....how many sets do you do?

Big Lou - I'm stealing your routine tonight bra........1/10 of the weight, of course...lol.....
 
3 sets of 6-15 reps..But remember I superset my last 2 sets of Barbell rows w/ dumbell rows. I go heavy as well

225 for 15
305 for 8 ------- superset w/ 100's dbls 10 reps a side
225 for 15 -------- " "

Thats my mass/ Bulk builder. Never needed more than that. I do stiif legged deads for my hams on leg day which hit my lower back the right amount.
 
Hm... I did back yesterday... Consisted of BarRows, Deadlifts, High Face Pulls and Cable Rows... followed up by some trap work.

I have laid off of deadlifts for 2 weeks before... going with back extensions... it really didn't "do much" for me... but it did give me some necessiary resting time from the brutality that is deadlifting... I might do that every 2 months or so.
