back injury from deads

it wasn't on my last rep, but when I was putting the bar back on the hooks of the power rack. I had 285 on the bar and when I took it off the hooks I let it down slowly and let go. I paced for a couple of seconds to catch my breath and decided to unrack 70lbs from the bar. when I picking up the weight, I felt a twinge and I thought, OH SHIT. sure enough, I couldn't even hold the bar without feeling pain. I was warmed up, but I guess not thoroughly enough. I knew it was going to be an off day, so I dedcided to take it easy, but I just don't know how I fucked up my back. now, I plan to rehabilitate myself until by taking at least a week off and stretching.

later on, I went shopping and I can't even put all my weight on my left leg. I feel like I am waddling when I walk, like I am some overweight person that can't walk straight. oh well. :(

it happens. stay off it for the time being. you were stabilizing and concentrating on the deads, but when the time came for you to unrack, you were a bit less aware probably and didnt brace your core as you should. most of the time back injuries/pain is caused when people arent even lifting anything of significance. misalignment of thier spine or unstabilized.

Almost all my injuries have been doing little shit like that. I can almost never say anything cool like..."well, I fucked it up in a heavyweight title fight in '98" or "I was deadlifting 545 when it happened." It usually something like "well...I was scratching my ass and..."

Seriously, take it easy for a while, back injuries are nothing to fuck around with. Good luck with it.

Go see a chiropractor, train your abs daily, do rev hypers daily, and pull from the floor instead of taking it from a rack.
