Avatar size

I am confused I try to upload a bigger avatar but, all I get is Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

yet, there are some non-platnum members who have large avatars.

someone fill me in.

I plan to go platnum and dip my member in hot metal in the next few weeks anyway but still.......

Some nonplats are given plat status on the join anniversary and then they change their avatar to larger sizes. When they go back to being nonplat the avatar size stays.

Plats get bigger avatars.

Actually that was something beastboy said years ago and I put it in my sig. So I never said that.
