Attention EF ultimate fighters

damn, that dude got the beat down! Too bad I don't have speakers hooked here at work. Was it a real fight (like they had real beef) or was it a fight for the cameras?

guy's form is terrible . he doesnt even have a lead side and his arms were down the whole time, and chin was up, no wonder he got socked. those roundhouse kicks were terrible as well. and where was the mount on that ground and pound, if they had proper training, his insticnt would have been to go straight to the mount. bah!

props to that guy for not hurting him real bad at the end, he could of fucked up him worse if he wanted....the dude was just a better fighter, he sat back kept his hands up and just counterpunched. a good recipe for winning a fight.

juding by his "Whatssss up" at the end, i think he was drunk ..a major disadvantage if your throwing down with someone who is sober.

Curious,

So in a fight the goal is just to counter-punch with the hands just protecting the face correct? So the initial agressor ussually looses, if you just sort of let him run the show and jab back?

i mean it all depends...im no expert but in that situation the guy who dominated was obviously way quicker with his hands so he could just pick the other guy apart buy counterpunching/blocking his punches. I wouldnt say let the other guy swing first and you counter is gonna work, if someone is coming at you and they got quick hands its gonna hard to avoid every punch and you could get dropped right off the bat.

in my experience the guy who lands the first big blow wins the fight unless he is severly outmatched, its all mental in a fight, when you get hit first most people panic.

but the guys who said these two cant fight are correct, horrid form, and the guy who won got lucky that the other guy was a even worse fighter, mounts and knees should have been untilized way more, for example, when the guy charged in head down,a simple knee would have ended that

why mount , the guy knew he could pick him apart standing up...i wouldnt say the guy who won is a shitty fighter, he has some good handspeed.

the mount was the smart move,he had him on the ground and could have ended it fast as opposed to letting him up and giving him another chance. anybody in a fight has a punchers chance while standing up,take that away with ground and pound and the guy on top has a 95% chance of winning

mount is the best weapon when you have someone on the ground. i take jiu jitsu and its just instinctive for me to go to mount once hes on the ground. cuz once that happens if your opponent does not know how to sweep, hes at your mercy and you can pound his face to a bloody pulp. the only thing he cand o is keep his hands close to his face to block the punches because once that hand sticks out to push me away, its arm bar time.

i thought jiu jitsu likes being on bottom?

no. on top is the poistion to be. though there are submissions on the ground and being on top, id rather be on top since i have alot more movement. although if youre a smart bjj practioner you will know your strengths and weakneses, and if you are well adept in bottom submissions you can bait ppl into taking mount, then submitting them ala royce gracie. ofcourse they are submissions for both cases, but in this case you would want mount to start the ground and pound. trying to defend against someone pounding your face from the mount is a terrifying feeling. you can only keep your hands close to your face to protect the blows, and just hope for a opening so you can sweep him off you. its really hard to keep your cool in such a circumstance.
