no, it has this module on front/top of the barrell which is supposed to be a "mock" laser pointer, it really just holds the battery. The problem with this is, when you install a scope, the top half of the battery port juts out into your view making a scope worthless. they've gotten creative with this though. Alot of people have either A. Made their own custom battery string which raps around the barrell, or B. attached an external battery somewhere along the stock. All of which is a pain in the ass and costs extra money to do. I haven't heard anything bad about the Steyr yet though, and it's one of the most accurate rifles because of it's barrell length. It's also cheaper, but I need to find out for sure about the respective upgrade paths of each gun.
