Plato wrote of this advanced civilization that had hot and cold running water, multi-leveled buildings, and progressive city sewage.

3500 years ago!

An enormous volcanic eruption....10 times bigger than anything we have seen....both covered the civilization and created a tsunami that wiped out what did not get covered.

There were survivors of course. They were unable to defend themselves against the Greek armies.

Apparently, they had some warnings. There were signs that they were leaving: beds outside of the buildings is a strong sign.

If this volcanic eruption had nor occurred, many scholars believe that the Egyptian culture and language would dominate to this day.

Almost everyone got covered by up to 30 feet of volcanic pumice.

The volcano is rebuilding itself as well. Only a matter of time before it spews again. Could easily happen within the next 500 years.
