Athletic tapered shirts?

I need to find a place to buy (dress) shirts that don't look like a deflated balloon around my waist when it fits my neck well. My chest is 48" while my waist is under 36" so nothing "off the rack" fits at all. Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated.

Custom is really the only way to go. I am 48" with a 34" waist anything off the rack fits horrible. Once you go custom you will never go back. You could try and get off the rack tailored but it never is just right.

Thanks for the reply. I don't wear suits often, but my buddy is getting married next month. I guess I'll see a tailor and see what they can do.

Good idea bro a tailor can do pretty much anything ya want them to! You will be soo surprised how much of a difference it makes!

I have that problem with T-shirts. At 42, I like to show what I've done, and any T-shirt that fits my shoulders/chest, billows around my waist and I might have a beer gut for all anyone can see. Working for a 5.3% body fat content, I want to show it off. Some of the "Bro" T-shirts (SRH, Hostility, Affliction, etc) are cut better for big shoulders and small stomach.

That's the way to go. A good seamstress at a laundry can put darts in your shits custom to you.

My nephew is a cop and he turned me on to this. Ever seen a cop wearing a baggy shirt?

You can also try shirt garters if you don't have time to go to a tailor. Of course, by the time you order the garters you could have probably gone to a tailor anyway.

I actually wear the Van Heusen tailored shirt. Most "tailored" shirts off the rack still have huge bloated bellies (because "athletic" these days means under 25% BF I guess). The Van Heusen tailored shirts are actually tailored. They fit tight around my waist, and I have a 30-31" waist. I don't have a huge neck though (16") so it might be hard to find a good fit if you have a huge 18" neck.

Dress shirts are impossible. I can't find any at all, over-the-counter, which fit. I'm not that big (among most on this forum), but my arms require an XL, and I have a 30" waist. So it's baggy, saggy torso or my arms turn blue from cut-off circulation in the biceps. I work really hard to be this way, so I don't mind showing off a little with tighter sleeves. But I also don't want to be uncomfortable. For tanks and muscle shirts, regular mens Medium is fine. Luckily, I can wear those 80% of the time, weather permitting.

Charles Tyrwhitt Slim Fit dress shirts do quite nicely.

Plus, quality wise they are some of the best shirts out there.
