i saw something similar happen to a moto gp rider i want to say its was rossi but i'm not 100% there is footage on it on one of the faster movies i'll have to watch them to find out.
he would not have died just a broken collar bone and a jacked up shoulder and possibly a concussionheatherrae said:Must not have been his day to die.
I think you are channeling Samoth...lol.PBR said:motorcycle dynamics want to keep the bike upright and going in a straight line. the wheels act as a gyro- so the spinning action of the front wheel especially - wants to keep the momentum rolling upright and forward. to turn a motorcyle, at speed, the handlebars are turned in the opposite direction...this lays the bike over and bascially steers with the rear-end to follow up the front wheel.
i have seen the dynamic before many times (as in the video), including it happening to myself- tho i didnt go over the bars...its a fucked feeling, that riders recovery was well done as he held his composure to regain control...thats a 500 2 stroke which are notoriuos for spitting the rear end out from underneath the bike...the HP to weight ratio on those GP 2 strokes require an incredible rider to begin with...they are well over 200HP with less than 300#...the Superbike pro's if they ever switch over to the 2 stroke 500GP bikes have to completely re-train on how to ride them...
