aspiration question

Not new to pin sticks, but had some major discomfort with last inj. Last Thursday did my self administered glute shot (25g 1",2cc), aspirated as always (so I thought) saw nothing and went ahead. When I withdrew I had significantly more blood flow than usual. 2 days later site was very black and blue and hurt like hell. It's 4 days now and still friggin' hurt a lot, but I don't think there is an infection.

So my question is... how hard do you pull back when you aspirate. I usually only give it a slight tug and if nothing comes back I proceed. I'm wondering if maybe I passed through a larger vessel on the way in, so when I aspirated everything was ok, until I withdrew the needle?
Anyway, I've never had this kind of pain or brusing before, especially from a glute shot.

just a slight tug, I've got that same thing as you two weeks ago, I apirated as usual and nothing just a little air bubble, then got the blue spot and it hurted like hell bro but that happens when you go through a vein, no biggie. as long as you don't shoot INTO a vein it's ok.

I like to use inch and a halfers. It get a bit deeper... I haven't had that problem since I switched. Give a try.

aspiration/vein inject doesnt seem to be the issue, since it doesnt sound like you injected into a vein

as for whats causing the bruising etc...could be technique, or maybe you ripped through a bit of scar tissue...or something. dunno.

cheers

Technique could be lacking a little, it's getting harder to reach around and hold that little bastard. Need to stretch more I suppose. thanks for responses. worries are fading.
