asperating when self injecting glutes...

I'm going to get some shit for saying this but I have never aspirated other than quad injections. Tha't 100's of injections without a problem and the odds of the tip of your pin ending up IN a vein or artery in your glute is nearly zero. BUT, if you are going to aspirate. Just stick your pin and turn around and look at the syringe when you pull back a bit - that or use your bathroom mirror. It may feel awkward at first but I'll bet you develop the dexterity to make it seem easy after a few times.

I wipe down the area that I'm going to inject with an alcohol swab, then slowly drive the pin in after its all the way in (I use a 1.5" needle, for glute injections)I grab the plunger while holding onto the casing and pull backwards(asperating and making sure there's no blood in the syringe)then I slowly inject the solution...........then I leave the pin for a about 20 seconds and slowly pull it out.

hope this explanation helps

I don't aspirate for glutes either.
Never had a problem yet.
I do aspirate for all other sites though.

here's how: say you want to shoot into the left. hold the syringe with your left hand and poke it in. now take your right hand behind your back and hold the syringe with it. pull the plunger out with your left hand. you can do this sitting as well as standing... i've done it a number of times and it's pretty easy.

Me too, to a T. Good advice.

dayum, great advice and feedback guys... and here I was thinking I was going to get flamed for a newb question...

but I have heard that chances are really slim contacting a vein in the glutes... so I can see why some say they do not asperate... however one technique described here sounds like a pretty easy way to do it...

thanks guys!

Same here.

exactly.

actually not strictly true there are quite a few veins in the glutes.

Do them lying down and you'll have no problem.

Without a mirror, there's no way I could see the syringe if I used two hands.

You must be small :chomp:

I only shoot glutes and I always aspirate...probably drew blood 2 or 3 times.

If you are smooth, you can hold the barrel steady while pulling back on the plunger with your thumb to aspirate...All with one hand. :-)

I was able to do that my 1st cycle. 2nd cycle couln't even reach around with my right arm anymore. I dont even inject in the glutes anymore.

What happens if you don't aspirate while injecting in Quads and just inject and no disaster occured. Your okay? What would happen if you injected into a vein because you didn't aspirate?

Honestly if you inject direcly into a vein (which is nearly impossible to do) you may get dizzy and feel faint but it's not dangerous. Most of the time when you draw blood while aspirating it's because you went through a vein and there is some slight internal hemmoraging near the tip of the needle and that's what you're drawing out, you're not necessarily drawing blood directly from a vein. Hitting an artery is a bigger deal and that's why i always aspirate when injecting into my quads.

I use one hand. If you can't reach the syringe you are injecting to far. You inject upper outer portion of the glute. Hold the handles of syringe and push your thumb against the stopper a little till it moves out if no blood is seen then push it in.

yea, i've drawn blood few times in the glutes. i also feel it when i nick the vien or hit it. i feel a pulse in my body, maybe im weird but everytime i feel that, blood comes out, i pull out, change tip and go in again little different place or angle and reaspirate.

You should ALWAYS apsirate, even if the upper outter quadrant of the glutes only have one vein in them, you still should pull back to make sure you didnt hit that one vein. I say you shouldnt inject in the medius cause you can hit that sciatic nerve which hurts like a bitch(had a friend try the medius) Stick with the maximus in the outter part of your ass and you shouldnt hit any veins, but everyones ass is different and you could have veins where others dont.

ok, now you are going to need to specify where the medius and maximus is...

I am paranoid now! :worried:

Ok the maximus is upper and medius is lower middle, all you have to do is look at one of those good old 4 quadrant charts. you divide one of your ass cheeks into 4 quadrants by a vertical line and a horizontal line. Where you wanna stick yourself is in the upper and outtermost quadrant right in the middle and make sure you put it in at a 90 degree angle or you will get some good pain. But glute injections are painless for me as soon as i break past the skin and still all you feel is a good pinch. So, anyways, the maximus is the upper part of the ass cheek and the sweetspot is the outtermost part of the maximus. Keep in mind that a 90 degree angle at this part may actually point a little downward into the muscle depending how big your ass is. But, dude, no worries, its easy and painless and as long as you take the necessary precautions, (i.e.- wipe area on cheek and vial tops with alcohol, us 1 pin to draw and another new sterile one to shoot. and also a new syringe every time) you wont get an infection.

thanks... the anticipation is just killing me!

Medial Glute

It's nowhere near the sciatic nerve.

your not alone on this one....

It's funny, I hit a vein just today, felt it go through, but didnt think much of it. Once the needle was all of the way in, i aspirated and no blood went into the syringe, but once I pulled out it looked like i had a jugular down there!!! Blood everywhere!!! Now I have a knot, not really painful yet, but it's the first time I did that. Was freaking out just a little because of it, then started thinking its bleeding internally now so it'll probably be a huge bruise soon!!! Glad to hear it's no big deal though!!
