Ok, you have an expert here in enlistments and officer courses and special forces selection. I have been invovled in all of it in mhy prior life. First of all, any one can apply for SF, no matter what your job/MOS! They want the best and allow everyone to try, if you are the best you will be selected no matter if you are a cook, truck driver or fuel handler, because SF is going to train you for two years! As for officer, you do not get to select your branch, you make ten choices, in order, and they try to give you one of your top three. You can not go directly to SF, you have to wait til you are a Captain. If you like that HOOAH stuff, tell them you want to be infantry, which all officer are sent to ranger school and airborne school. They will teach you everything you need to know to go SF. Right now the Army is so short officers, that captians are recieveing reenlistment bonuses, which as far as I know has never occurreds in the last 50 years! If you go enlisted, you can enlist for rangers and SF option, which does not guranetee anything, all it does is allow you to try out, and if they only need five people out of 500, you better be the best, becuase they are just going to tell you that you were offer the SF slot but you did not qualify thus following the contract allowing you to try out for SF.
If you go in as an officer, you get paid better. You are offered numerous opportunites! You will be allow to get your master's when you go to your captain school. Plus officer schools are gentlement courses, which means no demening.
Any other questions, send me a message or post it. I have all the info you need!
