Army Ranger thread

Re: Re: Army Ranger thread

You can expect to be deployed away from home about two weeks a quarter (every 3 months). Also local training will keep you out of your bed about a week a month.

While my soon-to-be-wife won't agree, it doesn't seem too bad. Definetly not as bad as I thought.

A "typical" garrison day at home would start with challenging PT including running 3-6 miles at a 7 min mile pace or so, spending time lifting weights in the gym or a 10-12 mile road march with 50lb ruck.

After a hearty breakfast in the mess hall you might do some training with special equipment, do an airborne operation, teach or attend some type of military instruction, or go to the range to fire various types of weapons.

Your duty day will likely include some type of counseling with soldiers, and will be over at a reasonable time, probably around 1800. Most Rangers know how to have a good time after work too. :fro:

Sounds like summer camp on steroids! :FRlol: Also sounds like WAY to much fucking fun! :D

Thanks for all the responses guys. I think I'm going to keep my main goal as helicopter pilot, which is kinda like buying a lottery ticket (possible but not likely). After that, my choices will be MI then Infantry. I'd also like to go Combat Engineer but only if there's a chance I'd get to go to the school.

Is it common for Rangers to get the Ranger Tab and/or Ribbon tattooed on their arm?

And for you guys that have "been there done that", let's hear some stories.

I have helped out in RIP a few times...I always loved the "Cherries" that came to RIP the 1st day with Ranger shit on their arm....They had nothing but extra fun and excitement....

No fucking way was I considering that!!!! I'm not THAT stupid.

I was just wondering if it was tradition to get a tat after completeing Ranger School. Or maybe getting some other tat after some significant landmark.

Not really...most don't even have them Fro...and if you have American shit inked all over your arm, and deploy to another country...sorta defeats the purpose...<wink>

I have no ink. I wouldn't consider getting it either unless it had some significance. Guess I'll just stay ink free.

So how about those stories Ranger. You must have done some cool shit. Or were you a Chairborne Ranger? :D

The Meaning(s) of Hooah.

Hooah (who-ah), adj. U.S. Army or Marine Slang. Referring to, or meaning anything and everything except "no." Generally used when at a loss for words. Also:

1. Good copy, solid copy, roger, good or great; message received, understood.

2. Glad to meet you, welcome.

3. I do not know, but will check on it, I haven't the vaguest idea.

4. I am not listening.

5. That is enough of your drivel--sit down.

6. Stop sniveling.

7. You've got to be kidding.

8. Yes.

9. Thank you.

10. Go to the next [briefing] slide.

11. You have taken the correct action.

12. I don't know what that means, but am too embarrassed to ask for clarification.

13. That is really neat, I want one too.

14. Amen.

I'm not a ranger or anything....I don't even play one on TV. But I feel it necessary to infect this thread with weak civilian passivitivitity.

As you were.

How many guys in special forces are "on"? How openly is it discussed? Do the docs even write scripts for the guys?
