I just saw this on the news. The guy only got busted a couple months ago. I'll post the actual story as soon as it's posted on the local news website. The guy wasn't too bright. He told the cops he was going to flee to canada so the judge set his bail at 1 million. He has 2 kids and his wife was arrested as well. My guess is the cops threatened to lock up his wife and put his kids in foster care if he didn't take the 9 yr jailtime plea bargain. Wifey probably got probation as a part of the deal. This is a prime example of how cops will use whatever they can against you to avoid going to trial. You'd think a guy running a million dollar roid operation via the internet(so the cops say) would have a lawyer on retainer. How could you not? Then again, why would you tell cops you're gonna leave the country after you got busted either? If he had a good attorney I bet he'd have gotten 5 yrs max(served 3) and charges against wifey would've been dropped. There's no way a judge would put his wife in prison w/ 2 kids unless she was an actual part of the operation(which would have to be proven in court). Even if she admitted that she knew what was going on(but didn't participate), she'd have probably gotten probation-which is probably what she got anyway as part of the plea bargain.
I don't see how anyone can be a drug dealer of any kind without knowing the risks. How can you assess risk(max penalties for getting popped) vs. reward(how much $$$ you're making) without knowing the potential consequences? Anyway, I'll post a link as asap.
