According to a doctor, Heating food in the microwave using plastic containers is Bad. This applies to foods that contain fat. The combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxins into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Dioxins are carcinogens and highly toxic to the cells of our bodies.

Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware, or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results without the dioxins. So such things as TV dinners, instant saimin and soups, etc. should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

Putting metal in a microwave is a MYTH. As long as the metal does not come in contact with the surface of the microwave, you're golden. Just don't use something that is highly conductive!!!! :Chef: :tuc:

my granny has a microwave that has a metal/aluminum (or some shit) top and bottom divider, like an oven, no sparks, but I have seen some leave a fork in their palte and the spaks were flying. I once also destroyed a pc by inserting it in the mircrowave for a few seconds (warranty purposes), the sparks were also flying.

nothing is safe but glass.I saw on the news that you should throw away all plastic periodically anyway even if you dont use it in the quave.

i remember reading somewhere that it is safe...also, it is safe to eat food microwaved in styrofoam boxes
